looks like D Will is making serious moves to try and land Tavares, I’m a little Skeptical on moving Bodeker as he was finding great chemistry with Hertl and Coots. But if this means Tavares it’s going to be well worth it

even if he doesn't end up with Tavares I thought that was a rather nice return overall. I really hope it's space he's clearing for Tavares and not Kovalchuk though.

He and Loophole Lou have always been friendly toward one another when it comes to trades. So there’s a whole lot of favorable involved in this for the Sharks.

Boedker was impressive in spurts in the playoffs, but he is a really a dime a dozen player that can be had for a lot less than 4m a year. So even if they fail to land Tavares after this move, he is very replaceable. The slightly bad part would be if they dont land Tavares and lose Hoffman... Locker room shit aside with his nutjob significant other, the numbers he put up on a shitty ottawa team were quite respectable...

Wilson basically went out and did this trade as a favor to Talon, so I think Talon will owe Doug a favor. Seeing as Talon tried to get Hoffman, Ottawa said NO, Wilson called Talon and asked, if we get him, do you want him? Talon needs to take Martins contract off SJs hands now and return the good deed.

This is very exciting tho, but Im not gonna buy into anything yet. Doug has a thing for freeing up space then giving all the extra money to trash. So with that said, I think there is a lot better chance Doug will use the money in a stupid way - ala Giving Jumbo another $6M and giving Kovy $8M lol

no argument here. I still doubt that they'll get Tavares even if he does make a big pitch simply because I can't recall the last time a big name UFA came here unless it was a situation like Kane's where he was traded to the Sharks at the deadline and basically just re-signed instead of going to FA. Guys tend to stay once traded to the Sharks but they don't tend to just come to San Jose as UFA's. I'd also really hope that Joe wouldn't ask for 6 mil a season as he's not worth that any longer and you'd think he'd want more space on the team to pay someone like Tavares to give him a better shot at the cup in what has to be his last season.

Honestly the boedker signing at the time was pretty significant as far as UFAS go. Marquee different story, we shall see, they are kind of due so to speak to woo a big time Ufa to San Jose. I can see dougie looking up Tavares on a guaranteed contract, which is good and bad but the price of doing business

I'm guessing if he is going to have a shot at Tavares he's going to have to offer something ridiculous like 7 years at about 14 per. I think he'll ultimately stay with the Isles though.

I don’t think he’s staying with isles, I think he’s over the losing and the franchise being a mess. They can’t do 14 per year only the isles can do that I think the best the sharks can do is 11 or something

I guess since I'm not Canadian I don't understand their fascination with the Leafs. What a pity. I guess this frees DWil up to pay some retarded amount to bring back Joe for another year lol. Who else could/should they target now?

Honestly, I like this deal because now the leafs are fucked, they won’t be able to keep Mariner, Nylander, Morgan Riley, and Leo Komarov, or even kapenin. They have massive defensive depth issues and a goalie that’s injury prone. All that money that will be tied up in Matthews and Tavares is pretty much made their window to win this year.

Dwill can poach the leafs with offer sheets, and so could other teams. As far as who they should target, Eric Karlsson that’s it. I like Jeff skinner but he’s 1 concussion away from retirement. If by some miracle the sharks land Karlsson, it’ll likely include bobby Ryan. Hopefully they can get Matt Duschene too

or...it'll be like it is every UFA period where we get our hopes up (especially with the shitload of cap space this year) and he just continues to ignore the big names and re-sign what we have and draft. I'm trying to picture Burns and Karlsson running things on the PP and drool is congealed on my shirt.

He threw 13 mil at Tavares what else can you ask for? Kings are stuck with Kovalchuk at the price they paid they can have him. After that who’s really left? I don’t think oRiely or Pacioretty our San Jose over the top.

Wilson must have some serious dirt on the Sens GM lol. What a job he's done fleecing that team this offseason.

No kidding... The Sens went from nearly a Stanley Cup team to crap in a fantastically short amount of time. A lot of picks (1st round) could go to them depending on signing and making playoffs... but I'd say we are STACKED on the blue line now. wow...

I wonder who predicted the leafs would have a problem signing Marner after signing Tavares
