Living in the DC market it is amusing how they regard Harper. One radio guy who apparently is unfamiliar with the name Mike Trout called him the face of baseball. LOL.

With that said and back to the OP's thoughts he is a very good, at times great, player. He has already had two season with an OPS above 1 and he's working on a third. So "just one good year" really does not apply IMO. But yeah he is overrated and hurt too much to be worth the price he will cost.

List of guys I would be happy if I can just watch these players all day as far as watchability goes

1. Mookie Betts
2. Mike Trout
3. Joey Votto
4. Francisco Lindor
5. Daniel Murphy
6. Bryce Harper
7. Giancarlo Stanton
8. Jose Altuve
9. Kris Bryant
10. Mike Moustakas

Mlb could charge like 10 bucks for the season and still make a killing. More likely they’d do 15 or 20, but still. That’s peanuts for people to be able to see out of market hitters like that.

Contract year jitters.

Honestly, he could probably hit .200 the rest of the season and still get $400 million.

No chance the Yankees are in on it, they are gonna have to pay there own guys sooner than later...If they didnt make the Stanton mistake, id agree, but no chance now....Machado would make a ton more sense, if there is a big ticket heading to the Bronx, it would be Machado

the Yanks will make no attempt to get him and they shouldn't. They have no room. no need and no interest. BTW after this game ends in a few minutes Bryce will be enjoying a meal with Mario Mendoza. I still LMAO about people comparing this clown to Mike Trout at one time. Harper isn't good enough to wash Trout's car.

I was big on Harper when he first came up, now am feeling that he is really a head case.
Bryce is capable of playing the game as well as anybody, including Trout, but he is a crapshoot from season to season and seems to have a propensity for injuring himself. A lot of his early injuries were from dumb things like sliding headfirst and crashing full speed into walls, but I'd argue that even his scary looking knee injury from slipping on a wet bag late last season was something a smart player could probably avoid by just showing a little discretion...I mean, even I would be wary about landing squarely on first in that situation.

Harper was suspected of hiding a shoulder injury during a poor season a few years ago and might be doing something like that again, but I really think he is spiraling down now because of the pressure of playing for a huge deal. He'll get good money no matter what, but don't think he's going to get close to the stupid monster number that's been bouncing around for a while.
