You don't let the D walk in their prime. When they're being talked about with the Ravens D and Bears D you lock them up and yes that'll take up cap space. You're forgetting Seattle also brought in FA's as well as drafting the guys you mentioned but it hasn't panned out the way we have hoped and all Hawks fans blame Tom Cable for our continuous disaster on the line. Thankfully he's gone and hope our new guy can make a difference.

I would add though they have had opportunities to invest in the OL but chose other positions instead in the draft. Or they have traded away picks for specialty type players and have seen those guys fail miserably for them. Wilson being on his rookie deal making pennies on the dollar allowed them to get away with this but his big contract now compounds any big mistakes the FO makes.

I would suggest the Seahawks had a good run despite whatever mistakes were made . Yes it is tougher to manage the cap once a franchise QB hits his second contract, but it beats not having a franchise QB by a mile.

Oh no doubt they have had a good run and I'm sure they will at worst be average this year. Any time you have a top-10 QB you have a chance in any game. Wilson makes them competitive no matter how much or little talent is around him. Just like Rodgers and Brady do for their teams.

They have invested in the o-line thru the draft/FA but it hasn't panned out yet cause I believe Tom Cable couldn't muster these players capability. Now with the new o-line coach, we'll see if these players do pan out and make the line better. If not then the Hawks wiffed but it will take at least 2 years to see signs of improvement if there is any.

They've taken guys in the draft that left a lot of people scratching their head of why they would take those players. Many were thought to be late round guys they took early in the draft. So I would say they have a problem in knowing how to draft for the OL.

I would also add that when they did win the Super Bowl the OL wasn't the best in the league by far but they did have some decent talent that could do enough. Again this is where once some guys got paid and they had to actually think about some salary cap moves they have struggled to reach that same level of ability.

And the Tom Cable hate by Seahawks fans I guess we shall see how things turn out with a new coach. There is a reason that he continues to get hired all around the league by multiple coaching staffs. He is a well respected guy around the league.

Just wait and see how good our new OL coach is. From rags to riches

I agree. I think the impact of position coaches is overstated. I think Coordinators and the head coaches are more impactful because the game planning done. When Solari was in SF, the oline regressed during his tenure. Not because he all of sudden couldn't coach but because the talent on the line started to decline. He had to coach players like Jonathan Martin who just can't play regardless of the coach

The position coaches are just there to fill out the coaching staff. They have to answer to the defensive coordinator who then answers to the head coach. The same can be said about the position coaches on the offensive side of the ball.

They teach technique to the players and blocking schemes. Some are more involved in game planning than others. Some teams will elect to have a run game coordinator and use a position coach.

The Browns have signed former #2 pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, offensive lineman Greg Robinson.

He's been a pretty big bust in the NFL because I haven't see anything great about him. Maybe he can finally prove everyone wrong in Cleveland.
