Should the Pels add more pieces for a championship run?

The Pelicans had a good run this year. With that being said, they have some huge decisions to make this off season. Would it be in the best interest of the organization to let Boogie Cousins walk and pick up another high profile free agent (at a reasonable price) or two solid role players to help them make a strong push to get to the Western Conference Finals and beyond?

The Pelicans are in a tough spot. Boogie probably is not the best fit for them with AD. But if they let him walk it is unlikely that they will be able to get another FA near his skill level to sign with them.

The decision for New Orleans is clear:

Blow it up. Trade AD to the Celtics.

:heh:

I'd actually prefer them to resign Rondo and Mirotic(not sure if he's a FA or not) and let Boogie walk. He's not going to be 100% healhty until probably February or March anyway. I'm not sure how the rest of the roster construction falls, but I think they should try and add a couple pieces. Ultimately it won't matter because it's still going to be Golden State's title to lose next year.

You have to sign Boogie, even if it's just to trade him in December.

* See Blake and the Clippers.

Solomon Hill was a worthless signing a few years back.

I'd hitch his deal to any trade for Cousins.

I think Boogie walks but I think given they have Davis they should be able to get some good players to sign there.

If by worthless, meaning "not healthy", then fine.

However, he does bring them size of the wing - Something they've lacked for much of the season.

If Lebron/Leonard were smart thats where they would go. They gave the Warriors the biggest fits and provided the worst mismatches for them (even if it was a 5 game series). Im sure LeBron is already eyeing that place however. If one of the tow end up there next year, they probably win the 'ship

No, worthless is correct.

The Pelicans will have some interesting decisions to make. Boogie and Rondo are both free agents. The Pelicans aren't exactly flush with cap space so if both walk, they still won't have a ton of wiggle room to sign a marquee free agent.

I think what they should do is explore every option first of bringing those two back. Second option would be to try to use Cousins as a sign and trade if he opts to go somewhere else to bring back some additional pieces.

I guess if you're a Golden State fan star power would be the only thing that ever matters.

Solomon Hill will make 12.2M next year. And another 12.2M after that

His CAREER averages are 6.2 Pts, 3.3 Reb, 1.1 APG on 39.6% FG and 33.1% 3PT.

His career high average was last year. In 29.7 minutes per game he averaged 7 pts, 3.8 rpg and 1.8 APG. For a guy making 12.2M.

Dude is clearly not good. Well let me restate, he's not good for his contract. He's barely playable for a guy making double digit millions per year. If he was on a vet minimum contract, that's something else. Hell even maybe 4-5M per year. But he's making triple that.

For someone that relies on stat's a lot, I can't understand why you keep clinging to the notion that Solomon Hill is any good.

By worthless, I mean worthless.

He was trash signing for 12 million a year.

He came from the Pacers.

Not surprising that Dude overvalues him.

Davis is a beast and can dominate and does dominate. Unfortunately for the Pelicans the Warriors are in their conference, so you can only build so much around Davis, but at the end of the day, the Warriors stand in your way.

So super unfortunate since they have an amazing player in Davis right now, but unless they can get a two more superstars to their team they won't do anything but get swept in the WCF when they face the Warriors.

Stats? LOL I value team play, which is why I hate George so much. Contract numbers aside, Hill is a team player that brings the intangibles. When healthy, he's shown the ability to defend, offers size on the wing to hold his own against the elite, and shown he can hit the open three.

Sorry but you can't just disregard his contract. Right now Solomon Hill has one of the top 5 worst NBA contracts in the NBA. With respects to contract size and ability/on court production, he's garbage. You can try to sugar coat it all you'd like with his "intangibles" but he brings relatively little even in that respect.

Would you right now take Solomon Hill and his contract on the Pacers or Nuggets?
