I don't know.. This RB class is not nearly as stack as last year's deep class.

Word is it they like the kid they took in the 3rd round last year and see him as the successor. They didn't get a chance to work with him much last year because the collective bargaining agreement doesn't give you time to get a rookie prepared to be the actual backup so they had to give Gino all the 2nd team reps.

Then again, this all might be a smoke screen. They all lie this time of year
There are basically 3 major rumors tied to the Giants right now.

1) They really like Sam Darnold.
2) They will take Barkley and the QBs are overhyped
3) Bills really want to trade up to take a QB

All signs point to the Browns taking Darnold or Allen. I think every other team is expecting the Browns to take Darnold but Allen has been the common rumor lately and thats likely throwing everyone into crazy amounts of smoke.

I still think we're looking at Darnold at #1, Bills taking a QB at #2 and Jets taking a QB at #3. Browns trading down at #4. Thats my guess as to what we're looking at because it makes too much sense especially if the Giants want to give Eli and Webb a chance.

Last year's class was once in a decade type of RB class but this years is still good.

Anything is possible but I can't see the Giants trading back to the 12th pick which is where I believe the Bills are. I agree with the Jets and Browns taking QB's.

That's hardly true at all.

:L
C'mon man... Fournette, K Hunt, Kamara, Cook, McCaffrey, Foreman, Mixon, Mack... Hell even Elijah McGuire look pretty good for the Jets.

Doing this SportsHoopla draft it just seems like the RBs are fewer than last year. Seemed like you could get a pretty good one later last year and this year they all gone by round 4/5.

I think we'll see 3 really good running backs. Barkley for sure and probably 2 others.

I agree that the depth isn't spectacular but Penny, Chubb, Guice, Michel and Jones all have a chance. Maybe Ballage, too.

Mack and McGuire were decent at best. Mack couldn't beat out the shell of what used to be Frank Gore and Elijah McGuire was 3rd on the depth chart behind Bilal Powell and now-retired Matt Forte. I would say Royce Freeman and Kalen Baledge are every bit as good as them, if not better.

Fournette was a beast, but Barkley is projected to be better.

K Hunt and Kamara were beasts out of nowhere, definitely true. I could absolutely see Sony Michel doing the sort of things Kamara did if he winds up on an explosive offense like New Orleans, while Rashaad Penny is every bit as talented of a prospect as Hunt was.

McCaffrey is more gadget than RB and finished a distant 3rd on the Panthers in rushing attempts and yards. I wasn't impressed with him all that much, honestly. I can't say Ronald Jones would definitely be worse, or even Nyheim Hines if we're just talking about a mostly receiving back.

Cook and Mixon, the jury is still out. Like them, Nick Chubb and Derrius Guice have all the possibility to be elite RBs.

Foreman looks good, but it's a limited sample size. Honestly, I'd take Kerryon Johnson over him, as both proved to be bellcows in college but Johnson did it against much better defenses.

To be fair, nobody really saw Kareem Hunt's season coming. Last year, we saw 4 RBs taken in the first 2 rounds. I can easily see that happening again this season, if not more, with Barkley, Guice, Chubb, Michel, Jones, Kerryon Johnson, and Rashaad Penny all possibly coming off the board by round 3.

I think they should grab Chubb at 4 if he and Barkley are still there. 2 elite DE’s would be incredible
I've been thinking about this more in the past couple of days, and I'm starting to agree with you here. This is another extremely deep RB class. While I do think Barkley is a special talent, so is Chubb. With Garrett having durability concerns, we need as many talented pass rushers as possible. Picking up a RB later like Penny or Guice would be fine with me if it means we're getting the best DE in the class.

Yeah, I've been on team Barkley for the Brownies, but I've decided that I'd be very pleased with either Barkley or Chubb. Both bring great opportunity to the squad. My preference is still Barkley because he's so dynamic, but I'll happily take the DE too.

Now, if they trade down I'm going to throw a fit tho.

Honestly, I think it would be the smart thing to do. You'll have someone wanting to trade up for a top 4 QB or a top 2 talent. The top talents in the draft are a DE, RB, and G and those are probably 3 of the only positions the Browns don't need.

A trade down makes a ton of sense. Just maybe not trading down past pick 10.

It's the Browns, they need every position.

Actually, I'm looking over Carlos Hyde and I might be overrating him. His stats, combine and pff aren't that hot. I remember liking him coming out of college but he seems very subpar. Duke Johnson seems pretty solid, though.

I think they could draft Barkley. I'm just not sure Dorsey will do it.

Hyde was really good out of college, but injuries have slowed him down as a pro. He no longer has the speed (he was never a burner) he once had. Losing that 1 step is the difference b/t a 5 yard gain and a 30 yard gain sometimes.

Johnson is very good at what he does: receiving RB and changeup back. He's not well suited to be an every down back like Barkley is.

With Barkley, they could run a lot of 2-back sets with Johnson in the slot. Johnson is a tremendous route runner with good hands. Hyde can come in for a few series to spell Barkley and continue to pound the defense.

Basically, the offense opens up so much with Barkley back there because he's a dynamic threat with gamebreaking speed and tremendous size and power. Defenses will be required to gameplan around him, which should open up the passing game quite a bit. Without him, they can manage a 2-back system with Hyde an Johnson, but it won't be nearly as dangerous.
