And with half of the division there, that kinda proves that the NFC East has long been the most overrated division in the NFL.

Yeah, if you want to slam the Eagles, and I know many do, this is perhaps the most damning indictment: In an era in which their division includes Danny Snyder AND Jerry Jones, they still can't win a ring. The Giants are dysfunctional now, but at least they got two rings during this time.

I remember them. They were awesome, but shit, feels like it was a hundred years ago.

They were indeed very good. But I get tired of hearing Dallas fans talk about their team like it's still good when you literally need to get a VCR to watch an elite Cowboys team in a meaningful game. You literally have college grads out there who weren't alive when Dallas won something.

What's a VCR?

The thing PDay uses to remind himself the Cowboys are relevant. He's probably had his serviced to make sure it remains in good condition.

They've had plenty of division success. Jones and Snyder can only do so much for you.

For the youngsters, that is what you call a vhs tape. They are obsolete.

I have a 12 year old daughter. When I showed her one of these at a garage sale, she didn't believe me when I said this is how we watched movies when I was in my 20s. She said, "Nuh-uh." I said, "Uh-huh."

By the way, we were living in Dallas at the time.

My wife had the entire Disney collection of movies on VHS thinking they would be a collectors item one day. We sold all of them at a garage sale for $5 bucks... 10 YEARS AGO!

I remember the VCR and VHS tapes....I also remember Atari. The beginning of the video game craze.

And with half of the division there, that kinda proves that the NFC East has long been the most overrated division in the NFL.

Yet somehow - excluding the last two seasons - over the period 2002-2015 it is only one of two divisions in the NFL (AFC North being the other) containing three teams with a winning record against non-division opponents since the 2002 reallignment.

Since the reallignment, 9 times at least one of the WC teams came out of the NFC East, and 2 of those seasons both WC's came out of that division.

Comparison:

NFC West: 6 seasons with one WC, 0 with 2
NFC South: 8 seasons with one WC, 1 with 2
NFC North: 8 seasons with one WC, 0 with 2

AFC East: 6 seasons with one WC, 0 with 2
AFC South: 7 seasons with one WC, 1 with 2
AFC West: 6 seasons with one WC, 1 with 2
AFC North: 9 seasons with one WC, 2 with 2

So, conclusion: the NFC East might have lacked the absolute juggernaut, but on average it has been quite good, and quite competitive (which usually means major battles within the division and therefore not allowing for a juggernaut in the division).

It also means that it is extremely difficult to get HFA throughout the play-offs, much more difficult than for the best teams in other divisions. All of which has a big impact on play-off seedings and generally play-off success.

For instance, for years Seattle pretty much had a two game advantage over any of the NFC East teams, simply because of (expected) losses within the division.
