Here are the members:

SEC - Jeff Long (Arkansas), Steve Wieberg (Missouri), and Bobby Johnson (Vandy)

ACC - Bobby Johnson (former player for Clemson), Frank Beamer (VT), and Dan Radakovich (Clemson)

PAC-12 - Rob Mullens (Oregon), Tyrone Willingham (Stanford and Washington HC), and Tom Jernstedt (Oregon)

Big-10 - Gene Smith (Ohio State)

Big-12 - Kirby Holcott (Texas Tech and former K-State linebacker)

MWC - Christopher B. Howard (Air Force)

C-USA - Jeff Bower (Southern Miss)

MAC - Herb Deromedi (Central Michigan)

I don't. The committee is not only stacked against the G5 teams, but the SEC, ACC, and PAC-12 have the most representatives.

Any time they're discussing Ohio State (a perennial contender) there will be zero big ten guys in the room. Big 10 guys that are not only familiar with them, but also have a financial stake in their involvement in tge big $ playoffs.

Any time they're discussing Alabama (another perennial contender) there will be 3 SEC representatives advocating for them. SEC guys that have a financial stake in their conference being involved in the big $ playoffs.

Kind of strange that the SEC got 2 teams in, but the big 10 got nothing.

This only lists their current location (or last place prior to retirement). You'd have to go back to look at their entire history to get a better understanding of alliances. Example: Rob Mullens spent time at Kentucky, Maryland and Miami...and is a native West Virginian/alum of West Virginia '91. Not exactly a totally green/gold ducky.

That said, the only thing I have against him is he is too damned young! I lean more toward grumpy old farts.

The LAST location would be the most relevant. Mullins would want his conference to succeed right? Having USC in the playoffs, would financially BENEFIT his Duck program due to revenue sharing. That's the issue.

I see no representation from the Sun Belt and American Conference.

The selection committee is still stacked against the G5.

Funny how that works.

I am a fan of the ACC and Notre Dame, but I don't like the fact there are 3 ACC guys in the room.

A better idea would be:

Each conference commissioner nominates one athletic director to the committee.

All nominations must be approved by the other conference commissioners.

Stick with ADs from schools which failed to get at least 6 wins the year before. This way, we run into less conflict at the end of the season.

We could even put in an 11th member, and have the ADs from Notre Dame, New Mexico State, Army, and BYU come together and appoint someone.

I have pointed out that over the history of the. Committee the Big 12 has been under represented. Whether there is or is not unfair representation, you would think for appearances the committee would give each P5 equal representation.

I think the main thing people are irritated with this committee is the criteria they judge to make these selections for the 4 spots.

1 reason that I would like an expanded playoff with Byes. Bama didn't deserve to be in based on their play. I thought they were one of the best 4, based on the assumption they would be healthy when the playoffs rolled around. That turned out correct, but it was a pretty big assumption and disregarded some of the season. It is a bad precedent. Open this up and those kind of admissions don't really matter. Plus win and go home football beats the he'll out of bowls.

This 100% bullshit. You are just assigning them where ever you want.

Jeff Long was FIRED from Arkansas. Additionally, he is from the state of Ohio and his Alma mater is Miami. He also has ties to Michigan and VT among other schools.

And yet, at the same time you give someone like Bobby Johnson Clemson credit because that's who he played for.

What pick has the committee gotten wrong with their bias so far?

Even if you just used the BCS system, the results would have been the same every year.

There's no criteria. Alabama got the benefit of the doubt, because they are Alabama. Nobody knows if Wisky (who actually played a better schedule than Alabama) or Ohio State (won the conference, had one of the toughest schedule in the country) could have beaten Clemson and then Georgia.

Wisconsin lost to the only good team they played, they did NOT play a better schedule.

They didn't have the SoS required, aka a "criteria".

Just because you're too stupid to see what's needed is relative to what other teams do and that it will change every year as a result of that doesn't mean there is no criteria and that teams are just picked randomly.

The AP and the Coaches poll had the exact same result, as did the computers. The BCS would have given the same result as well. So it wouldn't have mattered who was picking the teams, unless it consisted of nothing but people like GD, the results would have been the same.

Plus, I think Alabama pretty much squashed all claims they didn't belong in case you didn't notice. But then, you all knew that going into the playoffs but didn't want to admit it or see it happen because you knew there was a good chance Alabama would win it all - again.

Agree. Here's my real big issue:

The Big-10 played the strongest SOS among the 10 conferences. You had Ohio State, Wisky, Penn State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Michigan, and Iowa. Ohio State not only played in the toughest conference, but they had ZERO cupcakes on their schedule and challenged Oklahoma. If a team is willing to really challenge themselves, they SHOULD get rewarded for both winning their conference and winning at least 11 games on their schedule.

Alabama on the other hand, played against 4 power conference opponents with a winning record, scheduled a cupcake, and failed to win neither their division or conference. It didn't matter if Alabama won the Iron Bowl.

If we gave all the power conferences the opportunity to win a National Championship, and throw in a G5 program like Central Florida and Western Michigan (if ranked or rated high enough), then it would make sense to throw Bama and Wisky in the fold. But I don't really think our system creates a competitive nature. Bama got rewarded for playing a weaker schedule.

What fucking criteria did the committee use? You talk about SoS with Wisconsin yet conviently leave it out when we get talking Ohio State. Then while talking UCF you bring up SoS again. There isn’t a set uniform criteria for all teams just admit that.

Ohio St had a top SoS, but they had 2 losses including a blow out loss to Iowa.

If Alabama had a SoS that compared to Ohio St, Alabama would have only dropped to #2 after the Auburn loss. It was Alabama'a weaker SoS that caused Alabama to drop out of the top4 and then required help in the form of Wisconsin losing to make the playoffs. As even though Wisconsin had a slightly weaker SoS than Alabama, being undefeated with a quality win would have gotten them in.

So in fact, all things were compensated for, which is why the results were basically the same across all polls and metrics.

Michigan lost to fucking South Carolina and only beat 1 team with a winning record all year long, and that was a team with 7 wins.

Iowa would have been a 6-6 team if not for the blowout win against Ohio St that kept Ohio St out.

Northwestern beat 7-6 Kentucky by 1 point. Kentucky not even a top5 SEC team.

So what the fuck are you talking about?

I understand all of that. But there doesn’t seem to be a set list of criteria. (An im certainly not arguing for conference champions only). If there using SoS for some but not others because of an extra loss that’s BS. Again no set criteria.

Sure many would probably be undefeated with UCFs schedule, just like many would probably have two losses with Ohio states schedule.

What does they would have been 6-6 if they didn't beat OSU mean? Lot of teams would have had more losses if they didn't beat a team.
