We're playing the Raider and it's a home game for them, not sure how they figure that out, maybe a coin toss ? who knows, but it's a road game for us, so that's good...
From the OAK fan perspective I think this sucks for them for a few reasons. And this is all on the owner for volunteering to give up the home game.

1) it will be their last season in Oakland, so losing a home game sucks. As a matter of fact, The london game shouldn’t be scheduled at all. Wait until after the move to Vegas. Should allow the fans to experience one of the better games in Oakland, not in London for their last season.

2) the opponent is an NFC team which also used to be in the AFC West, so the fans are definitely missing out of seeing the Hawks play in Oakland for the last time and re-living the old rivalry. Should maybe do AFC vs AFC if they plan on Oakland playing in London.

Wow, why the heck would you volunteer a home game on the road ? I figured all the teams would flip a coin or draw straws over that... But hey, anything is possible.... :]
There are teams that do not sell out home games. If they volunteer to give up a home game for a London or Mexico game, they are compensated by the NFL for that.

I try to get to an away game every now and then. London is my goal for this year. Should be pretty cool to attend that one.

Sucks for the season ticket holder who paid for 8 home games and only get to go to 7 of them.

im hoping they only pay for 9 games, including the 2 preseason games they make you buy.

I have wondered how the STH'rs are affected regarding "home" abroad games.
My guess would be that they are charged for 10 home games and may void the abroad "home" game and get reimbursed for that game. Only thing that makes sense and I would expect the game is sold out anyway. It would be the STH'rs option to attend.
If that was the case, I would hope to merely pay face value as a STH compared to paying market value for the game.

It's a road game for the Seahawks because the Raiders are in limbo playing at the Coliseum.

Packers will have to do it eventually, most likely as the road team against the Chargers in 2019 from what I understand.

Lambeau and the Clink won't have to give up a home game because we are fucking awesome like that.

one day they may add a 17th game to the schedule and make everyone play on a neutral field once per year.

they could do games in london, mexico, canada. im not endorsing this idea, just throwing it out there as a possibility that they may have already considered.

I'd go to Vancouver for a game everytime.

Leave and comeback the same day

I really doubt season ticket holders will have to pay for a game that isn't happening.

Wonder how the team will make up that revenue they'd lose from one less game at home... I'm sure the NFL gives them some sort of kick back from their home game being played somewhere else... May not be enough to cover the revenue they'd lose from one less game... If that would be the case, they'd have to make up that revenue somewhere else... Tickets? Food? Jersey's? etc...

Curious to know how the NFL compensates teams for losing a Home game, if they indeed do lose one...

The Hawks shouldn't be in a position to be the "home" team for one of these games for a long time. The teams that "volunteer" a home game to be played in London (or somewhere else in Europe or in Mexico) are typically desperate for that revenue because they aren't getting it in their actual home games. You're not going to catch a frequently successful team hosting one of these games too often.

Well, to be fair, season tickets aren’t on sell yet, so the fans will know all about this game when purchasing......

One would think, but it's the NFL so wouldn't be surprised if they paid for the entire 10 games.
