Seahawks need to actually address drafting or chasing down true offensive lineman. Pay half as much attention to the offensive line as they do the D and it will work itself out.

And oh by the way, why the fuck did they ever get Blair Walsh????
The OL and a good QB is the key to success in my opinion.

The interesting question with Wilson is does he REALLY make the guys around him better or is he only really relying on himself and his own skills to get things done.

Because as a 9er fan I did see Jimmy G take the same group of guys that stunk and make those guys productive. And mind you it wasn't an amazing group around him.

Wilson does have holes in his game that tend to get overshadowed by all of his "How in the world did he do that?" highlight reel kind of plays.

I don't think he's special from the pocket and just above average from there. He's never been a guy that drops back and just dices up a defense with surgical quick passes. I don't think he's a one read guy or anything but I do think he prefers to move around and probably chooses that option too quickly.

My opinion on Bevell is that he wasn't completely the problem but wasn't completely the solution either. I don't think he could take lesser talent and get them to overachieve through scheme.

To fair though the OL has never ever graded out as even average at pass blocking.

Not only is that good news on it's own but also makes it easier to hire a potential OC. I think some guys would balk at the job if Cable was still in place.
On a side note, stupidest comments I heard today on NFLN, Rappaport said the Seahawks run blocking was pretty good and Garafolo said that the fault wasn't Cable's. Seriously, have these guys even watched a Seahawks game in the last 5+ years?

With the re-emergence of the Rams and possibly the Niners, next year - someone is nailing the reset button...

God I hate that narrative.

It's literally happened like twice. Once with Sweezy who's been an ok player and once it didn't work (don't remember the guys name)

Facts are the Hawks have drafted 16 OL since Cable arrived in 2011. Not acceptable to have that many flops and all but like Britt have been flops

Looks like the cycle begins again. Think this house cleaning fore shadows a turn over in the roster. Expect the Seahawks to work the trade market to move older players. Maybe they can work something out with the Packers new GM. Heard he wants to be different then the previous GM.
2019 the Seahawks have a ton of cap space....

Don’t really care if Bevell is fired, but please please do not hire Sark. As mentioned, if Cable is keep, it really doesn’t matter who is OC, nobody can run a offense with a OL that can’t block and Cable has shown he can’t produce a average OL.

So Cable and Bevell have been fired but wasn't it Carroll that said to pass from the 1?????

I don't really know or care. Obviously even then there was lack of faith in the OL and counting on Lynch to break a tackle from 3 yards behind the line of scrimmage was to risky. Water under the bridge now in any case.

Who are they going to trade?

Who are they going to trade?

Just depends on who teams are interested in. Thomas would make a great piece for a team that feels it is a contender but could use some help in the secondary, for example. Could be some of these older players get cut even though they could contribute some next year, because from here on out it's about the next group of players who goal is a Championship, not win a few extra wins in 2018.

The question is why didnt those 3 stay with Seattle that left. Did they want to much money on their second contracts? Couldnt the front office figure a way to keep them? Was their to much money being spent on defense so maybe not enough money to pay them?
I will tell you the way I remember it.
Carp was a 1st round pick. He showed up fat and out of shape. He played "ok" for us. When his contract was up, we all knew he wanted a raise but he really didn't play up to his draft status. I don't think any Seahawk fan demanded to resign him as our line was in better shape back then and felt we could replace him. In retrospect, he would have helped our cause.
Giac was a FA when we got him. He played well but was penalty prone getting flags for stupid plays. He was reliable and somewhat stout. We felt it was time for him to play elsewhere. After all, our Ol back then was better (cough cough) and we felt like he could be replaced (cough cough cough).

When I say "we", I am referencing Seahawk fans I commiserate with, many on this board.

Unger was outstanding, a 2nd? rounder out of Oregon. His last year here though, he started getting injured. It looked like he was going to become injury prone.
Everyone said the Hawks should be given the Lombardi, now that we have Graham. Looking back, it would have been better not to make that trade but I was a GO when it happened.

FWIW, you forgot about Okung...
see above.

Almost all of the replacements have been swings and misses. Bad run of luck right there.
