No one is defending the Walsh signing. It was a mistake.

Guess what? It won't be the last mistake that the team will make. Because all teams, even the mighty Patriots, make mistakes.

You brachiating about how you knew this was a mistake AFTER he missed some important field goals seems like being self-congratulatory for no particular reason.

Im not congratulating anyone, just pointing out the absurdity of "no one could have known" how bad blair was going to be

I dont post much here during the offseason and walsh was signed in february. My sentiment about walsh was negative from the get go as it should have been for everyone considering that he missed an 18 yard kick against us in the playoffs. hindsight has nothing to do with it.

You have an excuse for so many things it seems... You were not LOUD at the time of the signing, nor were you LOUD about it when training camp started, preseason started and then the season started... You didn't say a peep up until he missed the kicks in the Skins game... So get off your high horse and eat some humble pie because you weren't right... You don't have any post here to use as back up to that claim...

Jesus, just stop to replying to the guy. He obviously has no idea what he's talking about and plenty of evidence to prove it.

Seahawks are looking at Jaguars kicker Jason Meyers, WTF ? He’s been totally inconsistent for them.. If that’s our solution for our kicking game, bringing in another totally inconsistent kicker That will be baffling... John and Pete just witnessed the utter importance of needing a reliable kicker, so don’t sign a proven unreliable one, again... I’m losing faith quickly if they make that move .... seriously

yeah, i'm on record saying that would be a horrible decision... Why would we sign a kicker who has only hit more than 79% of his FG's once out of his three years in the league?

Ugh. I was willing to give Walsh the benefit of the doubt for recent issues when signed because he had a history of success and was still young. But, Myers hasn't had any consistent success in the NFL, struggled so bad that Jacksonville cut him and Seattle should've learned their lesson about pursuing this exact type of situation with how poorly Walsh performed the second half of the season. I really don't want Myers, but hopefully this is just a possible competition move (though the Walsh move was pretty much competition-free last year).

That's probably the case... It better be...

That's what I thought of the Walsh signing last year - but I don't remember there actually being a kicking competition, or am I forgetting some rookie we tries out?

I think we had a kicker here competing but I can't remember who it was... I could be wrong though... I actually don't remember anyone kicking in preseason but Walsh...

I guess that Jax kicker has now been signed, according to breaking news on 710. Before people flip out, just remember it's only January and the season just ended 3 days ago.

Yes, and as much as I enjoyed (*sarcasm*) defending the signing of Walsh as cutting salary from an high priced kicker the previous year, I cannot even begin to think how I can defend this signing. In this case, it would just be better to bring in a rookie - even if he were an UFDA.

I just don't think it's a signing that needs to be defended or criticized because it's only January, and there's no chance this is the only kicker we bring to camp. It's like judging a painting when it's 5% finished.

Well, after the season we've had with Walsh, it's just kind've interesting they bring in a guy who had an even worse year - and doesn't have a solid history to fall back on either. Don't get me wrong - not gonna root against him - but it's interesting that they're shopping the trash heap again for their kicker when it didn't work out last time. Even if it's just to create some competition - because that's what it was supposed to be last year - but there never ended up being a competition.
