you are almost right, except that bevell has a history of taking talented players and making them underachieve. percy harvin and jimmy graham are glaring examples.

Heh.

I agree with JG. He should have been targeted much much sooner in the redzone but Harvin was always injured and could never stay on the field, so that I can't fault Bevell for.

They weren't full articles, just mentions about him mostly in radio interviews I listened to on Seahawks podcasts. You kinda have to 'read between the lines,' so to speak, because these commentators are always couching what they're saying in vague language because they don't want to burn bridges. Stuff about his personality gets mentioned a LOT.

i havent heard any of what you are saying anywhere, all i hear on the radio is stalwart defense of bevell any time someone criticizes the offense, its sycophantic.

I find it kinda' amusing that you don't see how a quiet reserved guy would struggle a bit in the highly testosterone laden alpha-male dominated world of pro football. Especially when it's billionaires who are playing with their toys who signing the cheques.

i dont see how someone with no personality who is reserved and quiet can run an NFL offense at all.

How did Harvin do in the Superbowl? Oh wait... NVM...

How did Bevell us Harvin his first two years in Minnesota? Oh wait... NVM..

How did Harvin do when he left the Hawks and became a Jet and Bill? Oh wait... NVM...

You have no substance...

Maybe it's RW was the problem... Bevell knew how to use him just fine in Minnesota...

we got a SB kick return out of harvin, was it worth it? yes, it was.

was it all that we expected? hell no, for what we gave up harvin was a HUGE bust for us.

but its not just harvin, its graham too. 3 years in and graham is scoring TDs but doing literally nothing else for the offense.

We got more than just a KR from him in the SB... He was a spark on offense in the 1st half that helped us build the lead due to the way they utilized him... He had 2 rushes in the first half, one was for 30 yards and the 2nd was for 15 yards... Those were huge runs that loosened up the defense... The KR was the opening kick of the 2nd half...

It wasn't Harvin at all because Bevell obviously knew how to utilize him in Minnesota... And FTR, I've never said Bevell was/is a very good OC, I just don't believe in the criticism or blame he's received from Hawk fans...

I think it's time for changes though, things have gotten stale, kind a flat, were still a good team, but this window is gonna really shut soon if we don't try and spice it up a bit... I would love to see both coordinators replaced honestly... Bring in a good veteran defensive coach, and bring in a proven O-coordintor... Get healthy, re-tool, come back strong in 2018...

the whole harvin ordeal was worth it just for what he did in the SB, i dont disagree.

but outside of that, bevell showed his inability to get anything out of an extremely talented player.

im calling it right now, this team is 6-10 at best next year if we do not make drastic changes on the offense coaching wise.

Some of it was the poor attitude Harvin had when he was here... There was a reason he and Baldwin got into a fist fight Golden Tate and he had gotten into a few altercations... He just didn't have good chemistry with his teammates while he was here... It was evident in the things that came out after he left for the Jets... It actually followed him because the Jets and Bills didn't get anything out of him either...

Personally I've been impressed with Richards once all the injuries depleted the secondary. Love the blitzes called to cover up for the secondary. As for the run D, no Kam and a less then healthy Wagner to go along with a depleted secondary, well it gets tough.
Listened to KJ Wright talking about players not staying in their gap in the first half today. Sounded right to me.

Also got to say I'm a little disappointed with Jarran Reed. He was drafted to take Mebane place as the rock on run defense and run defense was suppose to be Reed calling card. Reeds has had his moments, but he has a ways to go before he's as good as Mebane was.

As bad as Bevell is, Russell Wilson makes it nearly impossible to be a good OC all the time guys. His strength is doing what is not called, not doing what is called because of his height. Maybe Bevell isn't the answer but Bill Walsh can't make this offense a top tier offense without a back like Lynch who can make a crappy Oline look good with his negative 2 yard runs that turn into positive two yards.

I haven't liked Richards from the start, I wasn't a fan of bringing in a rookie DC to lead such a veteran group.. Our D took a step back when he took over, and it's no coincidence ... Lot's of mis-communications and blown coverages.. We need to bring in another veteran guy like we did with Quinn ... I"m hoping a team takes Richards for a head coaching job. similar to what happened to Bradley... And I'm not blaming Richards for this season with all the injuries, it was brutal .. But I've seen enough of his game-time strategy at times that I just don't trust the guy... I think my 2 worst Richards moments were the playoff game in Atlanta when he dropped Avril back into coverage on a 3rd and long, he effin had Avril covering a slot receiver!!! YES on a 3rd down we took one of our best pass rushers and put him in the slot and of course what happened, YEP, Avril got burnt for a HUGE 3rd down conversion for like 30 yards... It's things like that where I don't think he grasped strategy like some minds do... Also letting Julio run wild on us, almost costing us that game vs Atlanta at home, that's the game where Sherman came un-glued... and for good reason... Julio was basically uncovered for 2 easy TD's, Sherman was locked on a TE on one of those play's ... It's just not good strategy, and you need a guy that play's the percentages better...

I heard something along these lines over the last couple weeks by Brock & Salk on 710, who were paraphrasing something written by someone else. It's honestly one of the strangest bits of "logic" I've ever heard about Bevell or Russell. I'm not banging on you because it's not exactly what you've said here -- just reminded me of it. The notion that RW makes it harder on Bevell to be a good coordinator is just whacked. Russell's improvisational skills have helped mask horribly executed plays and a woeful offensive line for most of the past 6 years. Most of the time you could probably call no play at all and just tell Russell to run around until someone is open, and it will work more times than not. To say a QB who can make something out of absolutely disaster so frequently as RW is making it tough on the OC just doesn't compute at all. Preposterous actually.

i would argue that wilson has masked a lot of the problems this offense has.

I would argue that you have rose-colored glasses when it comes to Russell "I can do no wrong" Wilson...

Which is funny, because I seem to remember that he was against paying Wilson a couple years ago. (though, that coulda honestly been someone else, but I don't think so).

Now that i think about it i was still on the espn boards in wilsons rookie year.

I know i'm playing couch coach here.Breeze is 3 step and releasing the ball to fairly open receivers regardless of the pressure. I'm wondering is maybe changing receiver routes verse full overhaul might be an option next year. :noidea:
