Even when we had a run game we still struggled to convert 3rd down and score in the redzone. Wilson masks alot of this when he runs for 3rd downs.

A lot of the stats are skewed because of it, if you watch the O its an absolute mess.

That is why we need a OL whisper, not a QB Whisper

I think an OC like arians, who can adapt to his offense to match his players skills, is what we really need. Bevell is too rigid and predictable, unable to adapt.

How do you know Arians is still going to coach? His wife is the person who's pushed him out of his HC role due to his health... Doubt she'd be happy if he came back to coaching as an OC either...

Its a pipe dream, i know.
That's what Total offense was. I guess I shoulda called it points scored. So Bevell has been top 10 5 times, Arians 3.

Why arent teams falling over themselves to hire bevell then? With these stats it seems like he would be an ideal candidate.

The only place for him to move up is at HC and I don't think he is HC material. He does not have the persona that would be needed.
No way he chooses to make a lateral move.
There is your answer.

If thats the answer he should go coach highschool football. This is the nfl, if teams arent stealing your coordinators you arent doing it right

That's not true... If you're a great OC or DC, it doesn't mean you'd be a great HC... Maybe Bevell doesn't even want to be a HC and the league knows that... Who knows...

Everything I've read suggests that Bevell isn't seen as HC material PERSONALITY-wise.

Why's he going to make a lateral move to work with a different QB?

Bevell is like the perfect OC for a defensive minded HC so I doubt he'll go anywhere.

He's not terrible enough to get fired and he's not good enough that he'll leave for an HC job.

The problem with defensive minded HC is that if they ever get someone that is really good at OC they'll be gone within a couple of years to take an HC job.

That's what happened with Quinn our D coordinator, #1 D for 2 years in a row, he was snatched by Atlanta, and our D did take a step back when he left, he did a great job for us... I honestly don't know if Bevell will ever get a head coaching job, He's always gonna be known as the guy that made the call at the goal-line...

If Seattle let's him go I don't know if another team is gonna pick him up ... Not as a coach or OC anyway... He's been very fortunate that Pete hired him, Pete is a very loyal guy to his coaching staff..

DING DING DING we have a winner!

this is exactly why bevell will never be a HC, he single handedly lost the SB by making the most shockingly dumb playcall in NFL history.

We win that game and he is a HC somewhere right now.

utter BS. if you are a good OC in the NFL some team will be dumb enough to hire you. i cant imagine a team saying "well the man knows offense and he can develop a great QB, just look at how many times his O has been top 10 yada yada yada. but gosh darnit he just doesnt have the PERSONALITY".

the NFL is notorious for giving the wrong people HC jobs because they were on a good team, it happens ALL THE TIME.

heh. Start at your conclusion, and work backwards, and ignore everything that doesn't fit.

People hire people based on bullshit reasons every fucking day. Do they know them? Do they get a good 'vibe' off them? Would they have a drink with them? Would they fuck them?

But hey, what do I know, I just read it and reported what I read.

I'd be MUCH smarter if I just went with muh FEEEEEELIIINGS!!!!

And to be very clear, I have no issue with any of this, he IS fortunate Pete picked him, because awkward socially inept people are going to be in the crosshairs when stuff goes sideways too.

As I've repeated plenty of times in these endless fucking discussion with Snug, I'm okay with firing Bevell, so long as we don't replace him with some also-ran alcoholic like Steve Sarkisian.

Bevell is just the cheese pizza of OCs. It's still pizza and it tastes fine but it's still bland and nothing special.

Bevell is only able to coach to the level of the talent he has on hand. He's not going to take less talent and get them to overachieve with creative scheming and maxing out their abilities nor will he take talented players and have them underachieve.

Nor is Bevell going to outscheme any smart talented defensive coordinator. Seattle fans who follow the team more closely than I do can help me out here but when was the last time you felt the Seattle offense beat a quality defense with scheme? Most of the time you're not beating opposing defenses with scheme but with Wilson making huge off schedule plays a few times a game.

you are almost right, except that bevell has a history of taking talented players and making them underachieve. percy harvin and jimmy graham are glaring examples.

post your articles that explain bevell is just a social retard, i cant find any of this evidence.

do you deny he would be a HC if we had won that SB?

They weren't full articles, just mentions about him mostly in radio interviews I listened to on Seahawks podcasts. You kinda have to 'read between the lines,' so to speak, because these commentators are always couching what they're saying in vague language because they don't want to burn bridges. Stuff about his personality gets mentioned a LOT.

He would have had a better chance of being a HC if they'd won 2 back to back. But that doesn't mean he WOULD have been a H.C.

I find it kinda' amusing that you don't see how a quiet reserved guy would struggle a bit in the highly testosterone laden alpha-male dominated world of pro football. Especially when it's billionaires who are playing with their toys who signing the cheques.

Here's a link that puts Bevell at the top of the list of coordinators who should be HC's.

Ranking The NFL's 5 Hottest First-Time Head Coach Candidates

There's another one out there that's titled 'wtf' isn't Bevell a HC?

Ironically Bevell was one of the candidates for the Bears position when they hired another geeky type soft-spoken guy in Marc Trestman. Of course Trestman had HC experience, and Grey Cups on his resume.

The REASON teams don't like to hire guys like Bevell and Trestman is the perception that they can't hold a room. The players won't respect them.
