The writing is on the wall, if they dont make changes now the next few years are going to be brutal
Think next couple of years could be hard ones. Next year a tight cap and no easy way to create some cap space and no # 2 or 3 draft choice. Going to tough to fill in the gaps and the aging core players continue to age.

Hmm. Is that true? I think we are expected to have about 20 million in cap space next year and only a couple of guys leaving as FAs.

Some big decisions related to Avril, Chancellor, and Sherman for sure.

I understand the disappointment in this season. We had a down year (which is missing the play-offs). So be it. We've been spoiled a little.
The draft is a crap shoot, at best, imo. We can go on tirades about all the problems but all these injuries have taken their toll. You can't get around that and no team can overcome all of that. The depth only goes so far. The Oline has been an issue forever, it seems. It wasn't really all that good going back to the SB years. Marshawn hid some of the deficiencies by making guys miss but every game he would seemingly have 5 or 6 negative runs. And even on his good runs, he was often getting hit in the backfield. RW has been in the top 5 of pressured QB's every year he has been in the league.
There will be some moves in the off-season, for sure. But it's not like the team needs a complete re-build either. Hopefully we can find a couple more quality guys for the Oline. Trade away some guys that are no longer helping this team. Find a RB tandem that can be productive. Address the TE issues. We need guys that are true TE's imo. Can block, run routes and make tough catches in the RZ. Not just one trick ponies.
And get healthy on defense. We will have to wait and see what happens with these injuries. I think Sherm and Kam are back next year but I don't know for sure. Avril is a tough one. We really missed him this year. His loss showed just how much he made our pass rush better. Bennett was really average without Cliff on the other side. But Avril's career could well be over. A tough break if so. I wish him well. I always liked Avril more than Bennett. We still have some really good players on that side of the ball, when healthy. The front needs a little work, though. Have to be able to stop the run and get pressure with 4 guys.
At any rate, it isn't the end of the world. It's just sports and entertainment and pales in comparison to the real issues in the world or even in our day to day stressful lives. All the best to my fellow fans this holiday season. Relax and enjoy your time with family and friends. Have a couple of drinks and some good food and just have fun. And be safe and healthy and happy in the new year. Cheers everyone.:suds:

You've been saying this for a few years now.

And ive been right, this team has steadily regressed every year since 2014. It has not transitioned to an offensive team like it needed to.

About 18 in cap space and a up tick in the cap will help. That doesn't include the cost of the draft ( which will be less then usual due to fewer picks) and the money needed to cover injuries. going to have to fell the holes in the roster on the cheap IMO because 18 mil is nothing with rising cost of players.

Trading expensive players isn't easy, they shopped Sherman a bit last year and didn't seem to receive a lot of interest, now he's a year older and has a serious injury to come back from, so think he remains on the roster. Avril and Kam have career threatening injuries, but will they retire? IDK, lots of money on the line for them. Nobody trading for them. Bennett is poor trade bait. Declining skills, big pay and a poor PR risk. I don't see a contract dump happening in 2018 to speak of, because too much dead money involved.
It is possible the Seahawks say screw it and eat a ton of dead money, but seems likely they wait until the amount of dead money goes down considerably.

Wow Earl

Bob Condotta tweeted that Earl walked into the Cowboys locker room after the game and told Jason Garrett that if they have a chance next year, to come and get him. I dont know how to post tweets, but here's the link to the page.

Especially since he was ready to retire last year...

I'm questioning how much effort they really put into shopping Sherman. I don't doubt that they had conversations with teams about him but looking back, despite the headaches he managed to cause last year off the field, I don't think they were particularly serious about trading him. More than anything, I think they just wanted to get across that even our star players aren't going to be completely untouchable.

As far as the off-season goes, it's tough to say what they'll do until they know the status of Chancellor and especially Avril. I can see an overhaul of the backfield happening on offense. Carson and Davis might be the only ones from the current group that survive. Lacy definitely isn't going to be around, Rawls might be allowed to stick around to fight for a job next year but I don't think he goes into the season as the favorite to win the job again. They can free up a significant chunk of money by letting Graham walk. As many touchdowns as he has this year, trading for him hasn't been nearly as fruitful as hoped and I don't know if they're going to want to bring him back for the amount of money I'm sure he'll be expecting when they can use it elsewhere and continue to develop a guy like Vannett instead.

That said... the Hawks are still in it this year. They'll need a win and some help to get in, but getting into the playoffs is looking more likely than it did this morning. It's been a while since we've had to scoreboard watch with the Seahawks.

Lot of frustration in the team right now. I get why he would want to go back home.

Not sure what he expects from a team that is allergic to playoff victories though.

ET is a Texas boy at heart. His family is out there and he grew up there. Nothing wrong with wanting to be closer to home. I hope Seattle keeps him, but I understand why he would want to play for the Cowboys.

Earl sees the end of the LOB... I would understand if he wanted to go back home as well... Not going to hate him if that's what is choice is...

I can't hate a player wanting what's best for him.

If the Cowboys want to give us 2 1st rounders for him, ala Joey Galloway, I'm cool with that. :)

Think they made the point of letting everyone know Sherman was available, but weren't giving him away. Sherman made 13 plus million this year. Same next year, that's a lot of money. Looking at his contract thought I see the Seahawks can save 11 million by trading ( if someone wants to take on the contract) him with only 2 million in dead money. Or they could simply cut him if no one is interested. Going to have to see how players rebound from a torn Achilles as far as getting back to 100% and the time line if they can.

Same... It's the way I felt about Griffey Jr when he chose to go back home to Cincinnati...

Not upset with Earl. The hand writing is on the wall as far as keeping those on the SB roster all together. Certainly many will be gone in 2019.
