Plus the word that Yelich and Realmuto could be moved? I said a few years ago that the Marlins were in a shitty position. Not bad enough to draft high, not good enough to compete, no money for free agents, and a shitty farm system. You can take care of 2 of those problems by selling high on these guys, but no one is offering you A+ packages when you are just dumping guys who now don't want to be there. This should have been a drawn out process where they wait for the best package and rebuild their farm through trades and the draft. Obviously the new ownership shouldn't be getting all the blame, they are trying to play catch up from the last owner's mistakes. But I still think they are going about this the wrong way.

Yeah, hard to argue, Ozuna, Realmuto and Yelich should be the centerpieces in the rebuilding process, whether as part of the team, or in what they bring back

Even the Stanton thing could have been played better, not being so open about needing to dump him, and creating some "Maybe we will, Maybe we wont" type buzz

That contract was insane and ok'd by an owner that new he'd never have to deal with it.

I get that the contract is insane, especially for a low budget team like the Marlins, but my issue is with Mr Yankee showing up in south Florida and basically giving Stanton to his old team.

Well they had a deal with the Cardinals and Giants, Stanton just said no. So it's not like the Yankees were his first choice.

And youd be wrong

He already had deals worked out with the cardinals and Giants, and it was Stanton who squashed that

And according to reports, the return from both those teams were similiar to that of the Yankees

If the Dodgers were interested, he would have landed in LA

Truth is, Jeter turned to the Yankees AFTER everything else failed

The no trade clause was a killer. He tried to deal him to the Cards and Giants and Stanton shot it down. Apparently he would only go to 4 teams (Dodgers, Yanks, Houston and Cubs) so Mr Yankee didn't have a choice.

Debate on another board, Red Sox Mount Rushmore?

TedtheHead, Ortiz, Pedro?

Who else?

Good One

Was thinking Clemens, but Yaz makes sense

Pre-steroid Clemens was incredible, no doubt. Unfortunately he was a dick and once he started on the sauce and moved on to Toronto, then NY, then Houston and finally back to NY he forfeited any shot at having a spot on the Red Sox Mount Rushmore.

I agree, outside of Babe Ruth I guess, any guy (Boggs and Clemens) that played in NY and Boston, need to be eliminated from both Mount Rushmores
