Unless you live in FL, AZ, CA most of us there is an end to the golf season...at least the decent weather.

I didn't post for handicap this yr but I played roughly 38 rounds so far since Jan and my low was 80, high was 103, and average was 87 strokes per round.

One goal I set out for was improving my iron play and GIR...I really didn't see much improvement until the last month. My home course has 5 par 3s, earlier in the yr I'd hit maybe 2 of the 5 in reg...the last 4 or 5 rounds I've hit at least 3 of 5 and hit 4 of 5 last week.

If that carries over to next year, I can shave a couple off my avg.

How did you fare?

For the most part, you can play golf in metro ATL year round...it gets to be more bad than good weather in JAN/FEB.

Always fun, always something to work on though.

Let's keep swinging!

First time in almost 30 years I did not play a single round of golf in a year.

My main golf crew is all messed up. One guy had double knee surgery. Me and another guy have small business
that are construction related and it has been insanely busy the last 2 years ...and one guy was in rehab.

...so there's that.

Wow...that's sounds a lot like my old golf crew. Life events...one guy's wife had a stroke, he's become a 24/7 caretaker, really feel for him, because he'd actually done well enough to retire at 49 y/o. The other guy cheated on his wife, got caught and has been on bended knee ever since. She owns whatever balls he has left. The last guy got divorced and moved out of state....what a 4some!

Myself was out of golf as a regular player from 2010 to 2013...I found another crew when I started back playing...lol.

After nearly a decade of not playing:

*Got some cheap clubs last year and played a couple of rounds. Best score was 98 the rest I wouldn’t want to share. Can’t hit fairways or greens. Basically forgot everything. Decided to get serious and relearn the game.

*Starting in March going to the driving range regularly to find my swing again.

*Played two rounds in April and May got a little better.

*installed a 12’x12’ hitting net and mat in the back of my property.

*Got fitted for new clubs couldn’t stop pushing the ball. Not the clubs fault. My swing is still not there. Played two more rounds and regressed badly.

*Got a Zepp sensor and swing app (this freaking thing is amazing) showed me that my biggest problems were tempo and coming too far over the top on my down swing. Once I was able to fix that I can now hit almost every ball dead straight

*Played 2 more rounds and broke 90 both times. Almost drove the green on a short Par 4.

*Need to work on chipping/putting and keep practicing swing mechanics.

Don’t really have a golf crew yet because I haven’t played since moving to this town so I don’t really know anyone yet. But I’m getting ready for next spring. Looking into a membership at a course about 5 Miles from my house.

We might need a "I don't know if I should laugh or cry" emoji for this.

Did. Not. Play.

Not even once. Couldn't even make it to the driving range. Just had a very unusually busy year, with a lot of stuff done with my family/kids -- neither of whom are in to golf despite earlier efforts to indoctrinate them.

I feel like such a failure as a father

Exactly...actually everybody is in a better place now lol. I keep in contact with all 3 and recently played with the one that still lives here (cheated)...I think it's been 2 or 3 yrs now, he's finally getting some privileges back.

Hey man...when you have grade school aged kids that are not into golf...you have failed as a father! Kidding.

Neither of my kids stuck with golf, and they're adults now.

Your time will come.

LOL...

When they were younger, they liked to go to the range with me. My daughter showed some flashes of talent; the boy hardly has any patience and just wants to whack the shit out of every ball. But it's been so long since they wanted to go, they've outgrown their sticks and I'm not about to buy them any new ones.

Maybe when they've stopped growing we'll get them a used set and see if they want to take it up again. I was hoping they would use it to get into college, at least.

Back when my daughter was about 13 or 14 (she's 28 now so it's been a while) both kids were into golf, had lessons, golf camp, the whole 9. The instructor for the camp was telling me...the girls HS golf teams are so starved for talent right now...if you can break 45 for 9 holes, you're lock for a spot on the golf team. Two girls from that camp went on to play HS golf and both got college scholarships.

My daughter just never grabbed the sport or it didn't grab her. My son on the other hand was a good little player...he used to come with me to play the par 3 with my friends...from the red tees he would win at least 1 or 2 skins every time he played, but he got bored...none of his buddies played golf so he dropped it cold turkey after about 2 yrs.

I have some friends whose kids are about the same ages as mine, they're doing the same thing. Both kids have a Sunday afternoon lesson - or they did, it's about to get too cold - and they're trying to get them into high schools that have teams (which is rare here, but possible).

Short game, short game, short game...a lot of these kids have decent golf swings, but scoring the ball is where you see the separation of the ones that go on to college.

I had an ok year but not quite as solid as last year. Last year I parred my 9 hole muni a few times but only once this year. I shot one under and one over on two courses I had never played before last year and shot a 79 on a tough course I regularly play near Hartford but nothing like that this year.

That's why I'm so psyched about a new course next year.

Chipping improved as did driving distance.

Really need to work on long and mid irons, I tend to pull them down the third base line or push them to the right.

I played well. My golf team ended the season in 3rd or 4th place in our league, I forget which. I was able to lower my handicap to below 20 and broke 90 for the first time. Had fun figuring out issues with my swing and sometimes putted better.

All in all, I'd say it was a pretty good season. I would like to play more of a variety of courses though. I need to get away from the couple courses in my area.

Pretty much a busted year for me. Had sciatic nerve issues that kept me sidelined from May-Aug. Was playing pretty well before but not so well after. Completely lost my swing :L

Didn't play a lot. Did join a sweet club in north dallas where they had web.com Q school. It was 70 today and I'm off so I thought about playing.

Shot 1 round under 70 -- 68 was my best round
