They play the Nets a few times. They're bound to get 1. But new york as a whole may only get wins against itself. Sad state of affairs for a city that is supposed to be a basketball Mecca.

It never was. The only thing they have going for them is that they play in one of the biggest cities in the country.

Other than that they only won two championships, the last one being almost 45 years ago.

The Garden us arguably the greatest iconic arena in basketball.

But, yeah, NYC is a baseball and football town.

NYC is a basketball mecca....but unfortunately the Knicks have been ruined by terrible management, coaching clusterfuckery and mediocre players during the last 10 years.

They're in a rebuilding phase currently, and honestly it's way overdue..but better late than never.
They'll be back & legit in about 2 or 3 more years.

I've always liked the Knicks but yeah they look terrible going into this season. Think they'll eke out 10-15 wins this year.

I know that NY hasn't been a major player in the NBA for a very long time.

Or are you trying to say that Knick fans (and for a few seasons Nets fans) despite the lack of championships they're still happy with MSG and the draft being held in their city.

The Knicks are not what made NY the Mecca of Basketball.

* See Dyckman, Gersh and Rucker Park.

Celtics and Lakers ruled the NBA.

New York is where Streetball Legends were born.

Several notable pickup games have occurred there featuring multitudes of NBA, College and streetball legends for several decades.

It's what the Drew league in LA aspires to be.

Where else can you see Joe "The Destroyer" Hammond put a 50 pts ass whooping on Dr J?
