President's Cup only and bring in the Europeans... It's stupid imo to have both.....

What say you?

Are you suggesting the US vs. the rest of the world? If so, I'd say then keep The Ryder Cup in name, do away with the Presidents Cup, and go forward....

....and if that truly is what you mean, then that would probably turn as lopsided as the Presidents Cup has been....

ok, maybe the name but do we honestly need both of them?

I agree that the Presidents Cup is just to get the remainder of the world involved in a 'Ryder Cup-lite' type event...and as of now, it's an incredibly weak competition to begin with. However, in the last 25 years or so, the Euorpeans win the Ryder Cup 3 times in every 4 events.

I'm just saying that if you add just a hot/great player or two from outside of that European team, and conversely remove one or two of those Euros who are struggling at the time or whatever...guys who just made it on the current point system...it'll be just as one-sided as the Presidents Cup.

Probably right but I think we just need one instead of both of them

Yeah, that sounds good, but...

When in doubt, follow the money trail.

The RC obviously has long been established and is now a major cash cow for the Ryder Cup Europe and the PGA of America.

The Presidents Cup is largely a PGAT product so they rake in most of the cash from that event.

So...if you merge them into one worldwide event, somebody has to take less money...the PGA of AM and Ryder Cup Europe have the far more established event...I don't see them sharing it with the PGAT.

Good way to look at it. I wasn't thinking about it like that

Americans win something, someone searches for an idea to fuck it up.

Yep...out of "tradition" they don't even want players to get any of the cash. Even if they gave it to a charity of the player's choice.

Nah, I don't see them splitting any with the PGAT.

I will say this...I think with these type series if it runs long enough, it will start to balance out...the Euros were getting drilled nearly every RC until Seve.

True and maybe this will be more tournaments I can volunteer for. Granted I can really only do Mass and CT ones

Both are big money makers so I don't think my feelings are widely held, but I look at the RC and PC as exhibition golf in a way...David Duval was scolded unmercifully for saying it in public, but no one cares what I think...lol.

Go to a Ryder cup and then say this. The ryder cup is part of golf history. Over 250,000 people were up in Minnesota last year.

Plus these golfers have nothing else going on in late September early October anyway.

Went last year and I hate walking golf tournaments and I hate large crowds. Great time. Every golf fan should experience one, especially on US soil.

I've been to the PGA twice, the Masters twice, the TOUR Champ 2 or 3 times...my bucket list events left in attending golf...the US Open and the Ryder Cup. I've heard the partisan crowds are electric!

When we had the Bellsouth tour stop I went to that several times, the WGC Amex @ Crabapple, only 1 LPGAT event though.

Cool story...The Bellsouth used to be played TPC Sugarloaf CC, about 30 mins from where I live...at that time I was in real estate sales full-time and one of the agents had a neighbor that was a chef for the club...employees got to play on Mondays for free...you probbly see where this is going...played several times, but once was the Monday after the tournament and it was still in tourney condition.

I'm a decent length hitter...a good drive for me is 250-280 where we play...on those fairways I had at least 6 or 7 drives go 300+...the greens were pool tabletop smooth and faaaaaasssssstttt!!!

I'm played on a few private courses here that have some tour like greens, but never in PGAT conditions.

On the flip...we needed those spotters...lost a few balls in the rough.
