I'm paying attention and give no creedence to voting this early in the season.

For fucks sake. Conference season hasn't even started much less November.

Grip. Get one.

that's a fair opinion.

Everyone understands that rankings at this point mean nothing, especially by a bunch of message board college football "experts"

But I don't see any convincing argument for any team not in that set of 5 to be placed above any team that is in that set of 5 at this point.

If you want to say "it's too early to rank" i agree with that

but if somebody wants to affirmatively rank anybody not in that group ahead of anybody in that group, i think they're crazy or haven't been paying attention

I'd have to think TCU, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Utah, and Georgia should get some recognition. At least for now.

Personally? I'd take serious notice of TCU. Rolled into Arkansas and put a 28-7 beat down on them. Great coach. Experienced QB, legit RB, a deep WR crew and a new and obviously improved defense. Won't be many SEC teams that will hold Arkansas to 7 points this year.

I think folks are putting too much credence on OU beating a one dimensional Ohio State team. OU s good but I still see the same weaknesses that Clemson exploited in previous postseasons. Beating Ohio State's overrated Dl is one thing....beating a truly good DL is another.

I have no problem putting Bama #1 right now because they've done the most to prove it.

1. Bama
2. Clemson
3. USC
4. Oklahoma
5. Penn State

you use the eye test... but you can't have seen more than one of Georgia/Notre Dame, Oklahoma/Ohio State, and USC/Stanford tonight... You posted that very quickly after they all finished. And yet you claim to be able to distinguish between those teams based on the eye test.

How can you use the eye test when you haven't seen the games?

How stupid are you? I watched each game - 2 TVs and my laptop. In case you haven't noticed, it isn't 1970 anymore where everyone has to huddle around one 20" TV encased in wood.

Also, LMFAO at your homer comments. USC's defense is pathetic. You were tied at home against mighty WMU with 6 mins to play and then faced a one dimensional team without a QB. USC is a fraud like usual.

Oh, and Pedo State has only beat mighty Akron and Pitt at home, and don't have the defensive depth. But by all means... Top 5! Top 5! Top 5! LMFAO

By the OPs logic, the best coach in the country by the "eye test" (I prefer to call that the pulled out of my ass test) is Lane Kiffen. He was the only one smart enough to schedule a road game to protect his kids from the potential hurricane. (never mind the game was scheduled before he took the job, that's just coincidence)

OK State at #18? Why? Because they haven't won A game against A top team this year?

Your list is way way off in several different ways...

1. Washington, Georgia, LSU, TCU, and Wisconsin could all beat Ohio State on a neutral field right now.

2. Michigan, Okie Lite, and Louisville would all have a very good chance of beating them too.

3. FSU has an excellent defense but no QB, so #8 is too high by a good 4-5 spots.

4. You have Louisville, Okie Lite, and especially TCU under ranked.

I think our scheduling backfired. We had a couple of dud games early so both were moved off of Saturday to get more exposure. The catch is by the time you get to Saturday night no one remembers what happened.

It's fine for now. The schedule in a couple of weeks is pretty week. If both us and TCU take care of business next week it will be the only undefeated top 25 matchup on the slate. I don't mind not getting respect less respect for destroying a directional school than teams winning the higher profile matchups this weekend. If we are truly a legitimate play-off contender the respect will be there eventually

Ya'll know that Oklahoma is the only team out there that can beat Alabama right?
