Good for him playing by the rules even when no one is watching.
Must be a Patroits fan!

Don't even think Professionals would do this. Kudos to him. Must have been a very hard thing to do. Guarantee he never has that caddie again

Clearly the right thing to do for the player. This is a USGA event, if he played the entire round and later the caddy leaked that they played with an illegal laser device, the player would probably be done for USGA events in the future.

IDT they allow range finders on the Web.com or PGAT during rounds so not likely to happen in a major pro event, but I think most pros would call it on themselves.

I still don't get how they would allow range finders on this tournament to begin with.. I mean I thought they weren't allowed

They allow range finders without the slope function for USGA amateur events. I think the caddy was using a laser with the slope function.

Mine has the slope function, it's not legal for tourney play. The newer Bushnells have the kind that can turn the slope function off so you can use them for tourneys....Idk which version he was using.

The PGAT, Web.com, Euro tours...you can use the laser for practice rounds only.

Yeah I knew he got in trouble for using the slope function but I just thought range fiders in general (during actual rounds) were illegal. Yes I get they are amateurs but still.

There was a USGA rule change a while back allowing them for amateur play/USGA tourney.

I got the watch gps this yr and I find that more functional than the laser...more information faster...in general I'm for faster play. No looking around for yardage markers, it's right there on your arm.

Did not know that. Thanks for the update.

Yup, I have the Garmin watch as well. Works perfectly! Except for one course that they switched the 1st and 10th hole so it took me a while to figure out I had to put the watch backwards for it to work.. Other than that no problem... Played exceptionally well with it to (well the 2nd time I wore it)

Only yardage markers I look for are the 200 and 150 yd ...other than that don't really need more, pretty easy to figure out the yardage. Then again I'm not dialed in to the exact yardage with each club.

You probably stay in the short grass too....lol

When you're playing from another fairway or from the trees...you need more logistic details.

My club distances are pretty predictable...what's not as predictable...solid contact...lol.

oh hell no, I thought I'd be trespassing if I was in the short grass. I'm usually punching out when I'm in the trees.

I saw where you hit that milestone...congrats if I haven't offered it already.

I'm trying to piece what once was a decent golf game back together...I shot a 77 last year, career low...shot an 80 back in March and I think I've got 2 other low 80s posted...everything else...mid-hi 80s and a few low 90s and while I'm at it, there was a 104 in the mix in June.

Just not consistent lately...drove it great Sat, played the whole round with the same ball...only hit like 5 GIRs, shot 87....not that I"m terribly upset with 87, but when you don't have any penalty strokes, you kinda expect better.
