I've been hearing about this for a while now...pros/cons.
Good player from an index standpoint, but he's going to get smoked, but I like the idea from the charity perspective...he's a bigger draw than anyone in the field so there is incremental interest in the event. I think that's a win/win. The one pro that would be in his slot will have other opportunities.
No big deal. If whomever's spot he's taking is good enough he'll have plenty of other chances. It will help the gate. At almost scratch at his home course he'll be lucky to break 80 there, but so what. I don't really see a downside.
edit - I just read he's a 2. He'll have to be very lucky to break 80.
If they're going to do that then they should open up roster spots on NBADL teams for golfers who supposedly have a good jump shot. Spot they give him is one that could go to a player who's trying to make it and dedicates his life to it. Not a fan.
He did make a nice sliding (though it appeared he slipped) catch when Rodgers (I believe) threw it to him.. Might have been Romo.. Can't remember
It was Rogers. Now, I wonder if Golden State has anything in their contract to get out of owing 200 plus million if he blows out a knee while diving for a football?
Every GS fan held their breath on that stupid ass stunt. It was Rogers. Now, I wonder if Golden State has anything in their contract to get out of owing 200 plus million if he blows out a knee while diving for a football?
I hear ya, but I think you're missing the point...Curry in the field is about drawing fans to the event and the money goes to charity.
DL games are rarely on TV so the impact is not the same, but if DJ lacing them up for a DL game is going to draw an extra 100,000 fans watching on TV...as a promoter of the game, you've done good work imo.
The guy driving around trying to Monday qualify for a living most likely still got in the field if he qualified...my guess is they added a spot for Curry.
I watched a little bit of the Golf Channel last night and they were talking about Curry and this Web.Com event. They mentioned that no one that qualified was bumped, he took a spot (exemption) that would have to gone to a local (or not) club pro and that they have handed out around 80 media credentials. The norm is usually 8-10.
They also said that ticket sales have multiplied X10 from last year. Just for the exposure, this "stunt" is worth it.
Curry is currently 2 over through 9.
