Well I'd say that means Baez and/or Castro will be dealt. Castro in the Gardner deal and Baez in the miller deal.

Castro gone, but the return seems weak. Miller onto the DBacks, I guess Baez to TB could still happen.

I guess that makes more sense, still think they could have done better than to trade him just to shed salary.

Wow news fast and furious. I really wanted Gardner as he would be perfect for the Cubs.

Ehh. Zobrist is still a damn good hitter, but his defense has cratered and he'll be 35 in the spring.

I doubt they'll miss Castro all that much though.

I posted this on the Giants board but here goes.

I understand WHY the Giants wanted him but a) WAY too expensive and b) WAY too old for the years needed for the contract. Anyone think he will still be producing offensively and defensively in the NL to warrant years 3 & 4 on this deal?

absolutely weak. Theo is tying the signing and trade together, to me that shows even he thought it was weak.

There were rumors that Zobrist had a 4/80 offer, but Theo gave him a limited no trade for the first three years, and I guess Zobrist felt like coming back to the neighborhood.

Maddon wanted him at the deadline last year, thought he moved Coghlan into that role moving from left to second to third. now we have three or four.

I would like to see them try Baez in Center field instead of emptying the bank for Heyward and give this team another year to grow from the inside.
