Tough year with the Kings for Zatkoff, by all accounts he is a well liked guy in the locker room but unfortunately he results speak for themselves. Necessary move, he will be assigned when Quick comes back which seems to be pretty soon. Zatkoff can stay on the roster for 10 games/30 days before he needs to be Waived again.

If I am not mistaken, he completes the total disappointment of all the UFAs Dumbo signed last summer - all 5 either waived, in Ontario or traded. Brutal.

I was thinking that too, could they assign him to the AHL for conditioning?

Yes they can assign him for up to 7 games/14 days on the usual "Conditioning Assignment". Waivers as usual will not apply so no chance of losing him.

Damn, you know goaltending is a management concern when a dude who hasn't played in almost 5 months is going right into a game situation. Also tells you what they think about their season - this is it, they are making their push.

I am guessing they want to know if this season is salvageable since the trade deadline is near. Only issue I see, similar to 2 years ago when we missed the PO, is that the teams ahead of us keep winning. The Kings didn't do themselves with all these losses. It's going to be a tight race.

Winning 3 of the last 11 games really put them in a hole. The good news is they have games in had on the teams they are chasing against those same teams so their fate is in their hands.
