Let me see, so far my list would be:

Spiller
Lattimore
Ryan
Rivers.

Would have to be some defensive players. At least you guys are sticking with the spirit of the Heisman trophy and only naming QBs and HBs.

This thread needs to be retitled "Your teams players who did well but never got close to the Heisman for a reason and now you want to bring them up." Looks like only jerms is trying to be objective, though the Bammers talking about AJ at least make sense.

Are you saying Dixon wasn't close and that the leading rusher for the year didn't deserve more consideration?

Didn't Dixon go to New York though?

EDIT: Guess he didn't. That's lame.

Dixon got hurt, so no. His numbers were good but would've have even touched Tebow or Bradford or several other QBs. Also, what leading rusher are you talking about?

I am a Drew Tate fan. I even named my dog after him, but there are QBs better. Homer pics would be - Shonn Greene and Dallas Clark are the only offensive players for Iowa that I feel could be mentioned. Adrian Clayborn and Bob Sanders are the only defenders for Iowa that I feel could be mentioned.

I only included Shonn Greene though. I originally had LMJ until I realized he did go to NYC.

A few defenders I thought about was Julius Peppers, AJ Hawk, Dwight Freeney, Jadeveon Clowney

I thought about David Carr. When you put Tomlinson, I had to check and see if he didn't go to the ceremony. Kevin Smith is a good one to bring up. Over 2,500 rushing yards and 30 TDs is amazing.

After seeing Marshawn Lynch's college highlights, I would say he is in this conversation, just on a team that didn't have a very good OL.

Portis - Best season: 1200 yards, 10 TD. Not even remotely close.
Gore - Best season: 945 yards, 8 TD. Even worse than Portis.
A Johnson - Best season: 52 catches, 1092 yards, 9 TD. You've gotta be kidding me.

All three of these are horrible, horrible choices.

Might as well throw some Buckeyes in the mix -

2007 Beanie Wells - 1609 yards, 15 TD, 5.9 YPC: Carried a brand new offense to the national title game, ripped LSU a new ass.

2002 Maurice Clarett - (missed 3 games) - 1237 yards, 16 TD, 5.6 ypc; 12 rec, 104 yards, 2 TD. Not only showed the ability to run all over any defense, but even played a little defense against Miami in what was one of the biggest plays in NCG history when he stripped Sean Taylor of an INT during his return

Cedric Benson, Texas 2004 - rushed for 1,867 yds and 19 TD's as a senior. Won the Doak Walker award, but didn't receive invite to New York (WTF?). Also finished collegiate career as the #6 all time rusher in NCAA history.

BJ Symons, TTECH 2003 - broke the NCAA record for passing yards in a season with 5,833 yds and threw for 52 TD's.

Jordan Shipley, Texas 2009 - caught 116 passes for 1485 and 13 TD's

Terrell Suggs, Arizona State 2002 - Set the NCAA single season record for sacks (24)

Kevin Smith, UCF 2007 - rushed for over 2500 yds and 29 TD's.

How did that happen?
