It does but it matters less in the NFL than any other sport, really

Sure but there are always injury problems can completely derail a persons career. More so in the NFL than any other league.

Staying power to me means staying healthy and in the NFL that is hard to do, so i'd think those that could stay healthy have the edge over those that can't.

That's not what I'm saying. Staying power means something. We have all seen one year wonders. I'm not predicting that for Wilson. I actually like him as a player but his fans (most) are annoying. He has "reached legendary status" in a lot of their minds. :laugh3:

Really? Show me a one-year wonder that had a season like Russell had last year. I can think of one, and if you can name him, more power to you.

In general, 100 QB Ratings aren't achieved by flukes. Especially when that person was coming off the highest QB Rating in NCAA History. And he has no visible weaknesses (go ahead and name me one). And when he is outstanding at all splits. It's not like he is surviving off of one fluke type of play.

And as for legendary status, I have seen many college games in person (as a guess, about 50). I have also seen about twenty NFL games in person. I've seen Rodgers, Brees, Brady, McNabb, Dayne, Woodson, Urlacher, Champ Bailey, etc. The list goes on and on with NFL HOFers and CFB legends. None of them impressed me as much as Russell Wilson. Getting to watch him on a week to week basis was incredible. He never let you down and he just had an aura about him, like you were watching The Beatles in Hamburg or a ten year old Jesus preach. Russell Wilson could have been a huge flop in the NFL, but i'd have known what I saw. And what I saw was pure, unadulterated greatness. I've elevated him to legend status and he's earned every bit of it.

And you can all me an irrational fanboy all you want, but the reality is that everyone I know who watches Russell gets that same bone-chilling feeling. When people walk into games saying "that guy is overrated" and walk out saying "that quarterback is a beast" (and I got this reaction from fans at the Rams game last year, even when his numbers were awful), you know you are watching one of the true greats.

This piece by David Foster Wallace about Roger Federer embodies all the ways that I feel about Russell Wilson (and is a much read in its own right). There' something unquantifiable about beauty and greatness in sports, and he just has it.

Well good luck with that.

Anyone who puts him in their top 20 list has no credibility. He is barely a top 5 pass rusher IMO much less top 20 all around player.

No chance Andre Johnson is top 10. He isn't even the best WR in the AFC.

That's moronic. I don't make decisions on top 10 QBs off of ONE season. If you want to do that, that's your prerogative but it's not sound logic.

Is it sound logic to give a guy an edge just because he has played more years, even if he still hasn't shown more than Wilson? I agree that Wilson is not elite, he's not on the level of Brees, Manning, Brady or Rodgers. But anyone after that it's debatable simply because he has at least one edge on any QB after those guys.

If you need more hindsight in order to make judgment that's cool. But not everyone does. Some people recognize good, complete players without needing to watch them for a bunch of years.

I'll approach it differently, just like threelittlebirds did.

QB Aaron Rodgers
QB Peyton Manning
RB Adrian Peterson
WR Calvin Johnson
WR Brandon Marshall
TE Rob Gronkowski
LT Joe Thomas
RT Anthony Davis
G Marshall Yanda
G Carl Nicks
C Chris Myers
3-4 DE J.J. Watt
3-4 OLB DeMarcus Ware
DT Geno Atkins
NT Vince Wilfork
4-3 DE Jared Allen
4-3 OLB Von Miller
ILB Patrick Willis
CB Charles Tillman
S Eric Weddle

Best approach yet... Top 20?? Dream team Starting 22, best at every position. Don't like the 2 QBs obviously.
