Yes, I remember when they busted them out for the first time with the grey helmets in 99 I think. And I hate to say UW real helmets, not those ugly black ones, are pretty solid. Better than the purple ones you guys tries when I was a kid and actually watched

No more color combos for UW. Their helmets will be gold every game of the season. It's those new high tech concussion helmets and it seems they are so expensive that they will buy exactly one for each player for the season. So even if they have another lame blackout game it won't change their helmets. It's a start anyway.

I'm good with this for a variety of reasons.

1. Give Oregon their recruiting advantage back with having multiple uni combos, that every other team followed suit. Now maybe Oregon will be the only team able to afford multiple helmets.

2. Some classic helmets should not be changed. From the PAC-12 alone, Washington, USC, should not have multiple helmets...Just stick to their traditional ones.

However, I do like UW's white helmets.

Good, I still hate you guys but you're uniforms were pretty sweet, like old school sweet. I loved our old school ones but went to the gimmick ones once the NCAA finally allowed us to have different home and away helmets.

I'm sure they will still mess with uni combos, but just not the helmets. Of course I miss the days of either purple unis or white and that's it. But it's well established that I'm old school.

Which is how it should be. With pageantry or nostalgia it isn't a great sport IMO, that's why I hate soccer, I hate the CFL and think everyone with a diploma from Oregon ends up in our mental institutions.

Those were just for the Army/Navy game so they were special case.

Their normal helmet for the season was still pretty bad ass.
