Thread number 12 on this subject...

Dude is a legend now in Philly. Unless the offer is ridiculous, you keep him. Is Wentz 100% by September?

If you can get a first and multiple 2nds or 3rds, yes, of course

I'm already on the phone if I'm Howie Roseman. I can probably get a 1st rounder, certainly a 2nd with him. Wentz is my starter. You just won a SB with a dude that was almost out of the league and guys like Keenum and Bortles were in the championship rounds. What more signs do you need that you can still succeed with a good team and inserting any competent arm? Get the pick(s), use it to fill holes the roster, sign some cheap vet to back up Wentz.

I think as an organization the Eagles should not make a move without discussing it with him. I think that is something that actually happens. We have to remember that Foles almost quit football so he could very well balk at a trade for a team he does not want to play for. IE...... Cleveland.

First off you have to make sure Wentz is good to go week one next season . If there are any doubts you have to keep him. If Wentz is really ready, then philly can at least listen to offers. If someone offers the farm then maybe.

IDK why a team would do that. I question whether Foles will replicate that success somewhere else. Philly has the ideal coach for him and supporting cast.

Good point, he isn't playing for money at this point. No need to fuck around on some shitty team.

Yes, but do you think after this season he wants to just ride the bench the rest of his career? I can see not wanting to go to cleveland but if a better opportunity to start somewhere became available

If a team can get some picks for their backup QB, I say go for it. Wentz is the future.

This is more about Foles than the Eagles imo.

If he wants to start, Eagles should trade him. If Foles wants to walk away from the game then that's an option. I don't think you can win a super bowl and sit on a bench. That's just begging for controversy

I could definitely see him land with:

The Jets - a boatload of cap space, if they could land Foles at $7mill, they can spend a ton on the many other needs they have, combined with the # 6 pick, they can have a strong offseason

The Jags- Limited cap space, scoring Foles at only $7 million would be a substantial upgrade, and Foles could actually find himself in another SB next season

The Ohio State Buckeyes won an NCAA championship with their backup QB. He played out of his mind down the stretch and then in the post-season. Could have gone to the draft and been probably top 5-10 pick. Instead he went back to the bench and then mediocrity. Then he went in the 4th round ofvthe draft.

Strike while the iron is hot. He's not gonna be worth shit if he sits behind Wentz for a season. And he us absolutely going to sit behind Wentz.

It's pretty simple.

As Clayton mentioned, it's all about Foles.

He might be happy right where he is.
It's probably not about the money, but if Foles has a burning desire to go to another team and try to make them winners, then the Eagles explore those options.

This has nothing to do with the health of Wentz.
If they trade Foles and Wentz isn't ready, there are plenty of veteran QBs (waves at Sam Bradford!) that should be able to come in and hold the fort. Anyone like Foles? Certainly not. But, you've invested in Wentz, so you have to believe that he is going to be healthy going forward.

If teams are lining up, and you get a 2nd or 3rd rd pick, absolutely.
Otherwise, he's here next year and it's all academic.
Until somebody gets hurt in preseason and the phone starts ringing....

Trade seems like a no-brainer.

They can trade him and get something in return for him, or he can backup Wentz for one more season and then get nothing in return.

Whatever they get in return is better than a one year backup quarterback, no matter how good that backup quarterback is.

They should consider keeping him. He may be happy with the back up role. He is now a god in Philly.

Personally, no, I keep him, at least until I see if Wentz can recover fully. But, some team may offer the farm for him now. I kind of expect it.

I get you on the recovery and that is a factor for sure, but I think you have to take the deal if it involves a 1st round pick. You're okay this year, but next yr carrying a $5+ mil cap hit with a backup QB will make signing some of your key FA more difficult.

This is probably the highest stock Foles will ever have. He’s a nice back up qb, and one that could help them win a few games next year while Wentz comes back from injury, but his value is at an all time high. You might be able to shake a few picks from some qb needy team. You might get a first, or multiple 2nd and later picks. Foles is a great back up qb, and you would most likely be mortgaging a few games at the QB position, but you can use him to bring in more young cheap talent. Look what Alex Smith brought in.
Foles is staring down the pipe of a 100M 5 year contract as a SB winner. The bar has been set by both Jerry Jones and the GM in Baltimore. The dude just turned 29 and he will get the payday from somebody.

I think we just saw that paying $5 million to the right backup QB is pretty worth it!
