Jeter isn't going to be an everyday shortstop if Girardi is a competent manager.

I agree, especially with Ryan on the roster. It might depend on what the front office wants though since Jeter is the "face of the franchise". I've been wondering if they'll play him at second and Ryan at short in games they're both playing or if the Yankees feel like they owe it to Jeter to play him at SS. Regardless, it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

I kind of think they're expecting someone out of their group of older guys (Jeter, Soriano, Beltran, Ichiro) to be out for each game.
