I was skeptical of how good they would be this season. They honestly weren't that good all of last season despite making the FF. There's a reason they were on the bubble for practically the entire season. You lose your top 3 scorers from a team that a fringe top 40 team, there should be an expected downfall. Aside from Boston College they look to be the 2nd worst team in that conference.

St. John's happened Bitch Asses!

Honestly, St Johns is going to win a few games this year. They have a few 4 star recruits.

Syracuse was still somewhat in the game midway though the 2nd half and then they got bombarded and mailed it in.

The loss doesn't surprise me that much as they had just lost to G'town at home.

But the score is indicative of a team that has lost its fighting spirit.

The loss itself is surprising but to lose byv33?? That sounds like just quitting. I'm sure SJU has some dudes but let's be honest, they've been pretty awful so far.

I'm guilty of thinking SU was going to be quite good this year. This was based on SU picking up two very good 5th Year Senior transfers, both guards. Wright and Gillon. But they both have been getting abused by teams in the better conferences.

My guess is both these guys are not picking up SU's systems as quickly as Coach JB had thought they would. It's not only the zone defense that they are lost...but in 36 minutes against SJU, Wright only went 1 for 6 for 2 points and Gillon played 30 minutes and ended with 5 points. These are guys that averaged in the upper teens as 4th year seniors. Last night was just god awful for those two. Add in they are unable to cover the ground the SU zone requires guards to cover....they are just not working out.

SU recruits players specifically suited for JB's zone. I think it's time to demote these two 5th year transfers and run with Battle (Freshman) and Howard (Soph) to get them game experience.

St. John's is an extremely young team. Along with the extreme worsts come the extreme bests. I don't think Syracuse is particularly good, but if St. John's played the way they did yesterday every game they'd be a tournament team.

Boeheim seems to be starting go through his Bobby Bowden or Bobby Knight phase. Might be done as a coach soon.

Yeah strong statement but I think they need to start looking for some young blood to take over once he retires. They had a surprise final four run last year, but their regular season was underwhelming.

St. John's is 6-7 and has lost to Delaware State and LIU Brooklyn this year.

Tough to make a judgement on Mullin, because he was left a mess.

There must be some type of old Big East curse on Syracuse. They have struggled against old Big East teams the past two seasons.

He's retiring after the conclusion of the 2017-18 season.

Battle is a player. I would think his PT would rise as the year goes on.
