I was rooting for the Mets, but I'm happy for the Royals. They're a classy bunch. Let's meet in a World Series rematch next year!

Love this team. Parade is today. All the schools around here have declared it "Royals Day" and will live stream the parade in classes.

KCMO and surrounding districts closed. I live in the center of downtown, and there were people lining up along the street when I was coming back from the gym (~630AM). The entire public bus fleet (and a bunch of school buses) were bringing people into downtown. People were abandoning their cars along the side of the interstates/highways to walk into downtown. The city expected ~250k people. Estimates are at least 500k. The population of KCMO is only ~470k. The aerial shots around Union Station are insane.

I know some people who work downtown and I'll hear about it tonight but I suspect that its wall to wall people

I'm watching it on TV in my office. Been seeing friends' pics on social media. Crazy!

I was about a stone's throw from the liberty memorial, and even out there it was like being stuck in a sardine can. Also, I am 99% sure the WWI museum got record traffic.

Not a bad museum.

I heard the city was totally unprepared for everything, though. Restaurants running out of food, beer bottles everywhere, people using the bathroom where they could. The whole thing was probably a logistical nightmare

Rumor was the city expected 250k and ended up with something closer to 850k. And yes, nearby restaurants immediately during and afterwards were completely overrun.

I think everyone underestimated turnout, but there's only so much that could have been done to prepare downtown KCMO for that many people.
