Will Stanford be screaming that their runner wasn't down.

I got a little sick of hearing that last year, maybe Michigan State will hear it this year.

If his forward progress is stopped and the whistle blows it doesn't matter. I haven't read anyone complaining about it anyway.

It certainly seemed to matter last year. At least to some people.

Are you talking about that last fourth and one? If so it shouldn't even be an issue. If the whistle didn't blow it sure should have. They stopped him and that is that, it wasn't even close. I watched it on replay and don't see what would be the problem. I didn't understand why it was being reviewed when there was no progress for seconds. It simply should have been blown dead.

As WhyWork just said, not even close. No, the runner was not technically down, but forward progress was stopped well before the first down marker and that's the end of the story. Michigan had a great plan for the Cardinal and did an outstanding job of adjusting for the second half and stopping Stanford's run game. Keeping Gaffney under 100 yards is no small task.

I agree not close. The whole world can see that the play was dead.

Are you talking about the Rose Bowl, or last year's ND game.

Take your pick. Same scenario, different games. Most annoying thing about last year's game is that there is a perception out there in message board land, and some babbling heads on TV, that somehow Stanford would have won the game on that play. At best, they were down 1 point with the extra point to go to tie in very wet conditions. There is no guarantee that they would have won the game, even if Taylor had scored. Second, and this can't be repeated enough, those were Pac 12 officials, so any argument that the refs "handed" ND the game is just plain foolish. Just like the refs in the MSU game this year were Big 10. Blame their own if they have a problem with the call.

I don't think the ND game was close either. U see the refs blowing the whistle and 5 ND players giving up on the play because they heard it. Te'o was the 1st one. Those people that still complain are just haters.

My last post was about the MSU game.
