well also- think of who Whiteside is competing for rebounds with. lol.......the rest of the Heats front court is basura rebounding wise- esp. last year.

I mean- if I WAS playing with Luke Babbit and James Johnson I could prob pull down double digit rebounds...esp. on such a poor offensive team.

Well, most guys don't compete with their teammates for rebounds. I understand what you mean, but it isn't accurate. You are basically insinuating that Whiteside gets so many boards because he gobbles up uncontested chances that fall to him because his teammates are poor rebounders. When in reality, the exact opposite is true. Because his teammates aren't great rebounders, Whiteside has many more of his chances contested by opponents who get position on them.

Whiteside averaged 5.8 contested rebounds a game last year (second in league behind Drummond) and he corralled 59.6% of the rebounds he had a chance at.

Gobert had a slightly lower percentage (58.6%) but significantly fewer contested rebounds per game. Both Gobert and Whiteside averaged about 8 uncontested boards a game. The difference in their totals is attributed to Whiteside's extraordinary ability to grab contested boards.

So, yes. I think Whiteside would still get more rebounds per game if he and Gobert were traded for one another.
