You've only got until next Friday to wait. It will be good to have him back because when Wieters is hot at the plate he's red hot and can carry an offense. I just hope his arm holds up. He's been such a good catcher defensively and while he hasn't exactly been hitting like Mike Piazza as many thought he would, he's still one of the better offensive threats as a catcher. I would like to see the Orioles keep Wieters but I can understand if they move on. If my choice is between keeping either Chris Davis or Matt Wieters, I keep Wieters.
Wieters started for Bowie last night and went 0-2 with a walk and a sac fly. Bowie won the game 3-2 thanks to a 2 RBI double by Mike Yastrzmeski, a solid start by Parker Bridwell, and Mychal Givens notched his 10th save on the year and struck out a batter with no walks.
A pretty good sign as Wieters has started at AAA Norfolk in a double header and went 3 for 5 with a homer, a walk, and no strikeouts. I know it is only two games but the results are encouraging. He already has more hits at AAA in 5 AB then he had in AA in 11 AB.
