Who's Hunting Tomorrow??

Have a group coming for a Pheasant hunt in the morning. I tried to let them know they could back out because the wind is going to blow 30 and get colder through out the day but they are determined to freeze their asses off.

I'll be hunting in Laverne tomorrow. Wind shouldn't get above 25 till about 2 over there tomorrow. I shouldn't even need to hunt that long at this place to get my limit though.

Question is will they be able to leave if that blizzard hits in the afternoon as now forecast.

Winds are already 35 with higher gusts at Knowles and it's not even 11 AM yet...

Shit son, I had my limit by 9:45. Don't even actually know how many coveys I moved. At least 10, but maybe one or two more. Got plenty of dog work too.

My brothers didn't even go out toady, but said Monday after the blizzard is over they would go out give it a go.

We are only supposed to get 8-12 inches but they are forecasting 5 foot drifts...

We got our birds but it was tough. I got a shredder out and did a drive or two.

Almost got a big rooster today too. Princess pointed it and I hit him twice, but 2 3/4 7.5 shot 20 gauge just wasn't enough to bring him down.

I won't use anything smaller than 7 shot (have to reload them as you can't find them) in a 20 and the second shot is always a 1 oz 6, because if it's a pheasant the seven can bring down if it's close enough and if it's quail the 6 load from a 20 isn't that rough on them. Hell, I use 1 oz 6's for dove...

You need to get you some 1oz 6 field loads, they're light enough for quail but will bring down a pheasant if the occasion arises. Really, they're the ideal 20 gauge load around here, unless you just go after pheasant and then you can get magnum 6's for that.

We are in a full blown blizzard. Hit about midnight last night. Had to bust through a 3 ft drift just to get out of the barn. Glad I brought my heifers up close to the house.

Scares the heck out of me when a Pheasant jumps up while Quail hunting or when Quail jump up while Pheasant hunting.
