The best NFL running back of all time is still Jim Brown from Syracuse. If Jim Brown would have played in the NFL as long as Emmitt Smith did, no one would ever have broken his records. He played nine NFL seasons with 12 or 14 games in a season. It still took Walter Payton 13 years with 16 game seasons, to break Jim Brown's records.
