you could argue their catalog of songs & lyrics are better ... i'll give you that

but beasties dont hold a candle to Kid when it comes to performing live on stage ... or his ability to pick up any instrument on stage and kick some ass.

They were a band, not just a guy. MCA on bass, MikeD on the drums and AdRock on lead.

They put on a helluva show. Just wish I'd got to see them at a small club before MCA passed.

Back in the 90's BBoys had their own magazine, GrandRoyal. And there was this one article in their about a kid from Michigan who had ran away from his well off family, his high class private school and lived in a trailer park. And that kid went to a Madonna concert, say 86 or 87 and these three dudes opened for her at the Silverdome. And as Kid Rock said, they hadn't stolen his act, he was trying to steal theirs. Lol.

I don't completely dislike KidRock or anything, but I don't like his fake white trash act or his pretend redneck attitude. He can play a lot of instruments, but so can most musicians. The Beastie Boys liked him better than i do. I'm also a redneck and lived in a trailer, not my decision.

Dude from down the hall my freshman year in college liked him less. Bob Ritchie always MC'd his junior high dances back on the east side.

I think that's the five. But I'd have to think The Beach Boys are higher. Maybe 1. Grateful Dead could bump Mookie Blaylock too.

Kinda disappointing that the Eagles could be 1. But I'll give Joe Walsh all the credit there.

That's not a bad list, but I gotta put Nirvana in there somewhere...

Pretty hard to argue with Pearl Jam...depending on perspective, I guess.

And maybe music preference/taste. And genre.

So, what the hell; I'll put The Temptations in there as well.

OK, they're not the greatest American band, but they played their hearts out and paid their dues as the opening group in tons of midwestern locales (rodeos, state fairs, etc) and never disappointed. A little recognition for REO Speedwagon, pls.:
