I know it will never happen, but lets play hypotheticals. NCAA decides to allow teams to pay their players.

Teams that pay their players
  • Not eligible for bowl game or national championship
  • Eligible for CCG
  • All players have to be paid
  • If school decide to not pay its players and want a shot at national championship (or vise versa), they cannot pay any new players coming in after the decision and have a 5 year period to get rid of the players paid/not paid before they are allowed to switch over.
  • No trading
Players being paid to play
  • Under 4-5 year contract with 4 years of playing (if do 4 year contract, you do not have a redshirt season)
  • In order to transfer
    • Get school to release the contract, where the school has to buy out the contract.
    • If quit or kicked off the, buy out contract.
    • If still under contract, no transfer even if not part of the program anymore.
    • No trading
So, who would you want to play/coach? A team that cannot legally pay their players but can be called National Champions or a team that can legally pay their players but will never be a National Champion while you are there?

Went with option 4. To me these guys should be paid. College football's a big deal in the US, the players deserve something.

With what's going on in basketball right now, the NFL and NBA better get ready
to form minor leagues.

If they gut the NCAA...we could very well see a proportioned academic scholarship
awarded to High Schoolers based on only their core courses and prorated out
to A's B's and C's, and the athletic scholarship vanishing from the college ranks

I still do not understand it. They get free education, free room and board, great food, travel, great medical care, the best tutors, and they are getting a monthly stipend already. The top half of the players get fake jobs and boosters giving them cash just because. All tax free.

Obviously, it is not enough.

I always thought college was for edumacation, a few kids still agree.

The kids who have been catered to their whole lives because they are athletic but dumber than a box of rocks, will want to be paid.

So, that means around 1000 kids will go to schools that pay their players.

Rather funny, thousands of kids have to go to Div I FCS, DIV II, and DIV III schools and they won't be paid because there is no big money advertising.

Welcome to the minor leagues.
