What if the NFL re-seeded after the wildcard round?

I'm not exactly advocating this, but I think it would be interesting.
(8)TEN (9-7) @ (1)NE (13-3)
(7)ATL (10-6) @ (2)PHI (13-3)
(6)JAX (10-6) @ (3)PIT (13-3)
(5)NO (11-5) @ (4)MIN (13-3)

If the seeding held up you could have (1)NE vs (4)MIN and (2)PHI vs (3)PIT in the semifinals. I've been a proponent of doing away with the conference affiliation for a few years now. If they seeded them 1-12 from the start it would be this:
(1)NE (13-3)
(2)PHI (13-3)
(3)PIT (13-3)
(4)MIN (13-3)

(12)BUF (9-7) @ (5)LAR (11-5)
(11)TEN (9-7) @ (6)NO (11-5)
(10)ATL (10-6) @ (7)CAR (11-5)
(9)KC (10-6) @ (8)JAX (10-6)

Why would you seed the top four to play each other? Where is the advantage for them in that? If you are doing away with conference affiliation, then at least keep it top seeding playing last seeding overall, etc. If you made it to the wildcard, you get one chance to advance to next round. Low seeded teams should have to play the highest seeded teams. It's not an advantage to make it wildcard over winning all season. They should not be segregated into top seeding round and lower seeding rounds, that doesn't really make sense.
Top seeded teams still deserve a bye, and then the lowest seeded teams should still have to play the top seeded teams, and then continue to win from there.

U think tiebreakers are hard to figure out now just go to no conferences and let the nightmare begin:suds:
That's true. Maybe, hire a selection committee???

If there was any sort of reseeding needed it should just be that division champs aren't guaranteed a top 4 seed or a home playoff game. There's been many instances where the 4th-seed is a worse team than the 5th seed but still gets to play them at home.

Maybe the top 12 teams could just draw straws for homefield and BYE....to make it fair.

Well said. Agree 100%. This season, however, the seedings fell in order for the first time in awhile in both conferences. There are no 12-4 wildcards traveling to a 9-7 this year. So, that's a plus for this season's playoffs.

Oh yeah that happens a lot. A Wild Card team with a better record going on the road against a division winner. This is actually the first year it didn't happen since 2006.

22 times since division realignment. The division winner with the better record is 12-10 in those games.

I didn't think it was, but I dropped down to your level.
You didn't think it was possible to get any dumber? So, you thought you were as dumb as possible. You need to talk to Dr. Phil.

Not getting anywhere near that nutcase.

My issue with you Reseeding idea, is pro sports has forever pitted one side against the other. It leads to a big build up. The NFL it's NFC vs. AFC; Baseball AL vs NL, and basketball and Hockey it's East vs West.
Its a perfect system and you want to fix something that's not broken.

That is a fucking stupid way to go through life.
