I was talking about before the season even started . Some people said it was a terrible hire without even knowing anything about Helton. Since he was a new head coach and new assistants most USC fans were in a wait and see mode and were willing to give him some time. We liked what we had seen and heard from Helton when he was interim coach. The bama game was a dumpster fire for sure and the Stanford game was disappointing. At that point most USC fans were starting to doubt but we saw some really good play against Utah and lost in the last minutes. Remember at the point Alabama was #1 , Stanford was ranked and Utah was in the top 10-15 at the time. So the losses weren't unexpected. The story was some kid took a swing at Helton but it was never found out to be true. That kid just was home sick and was allowed to transfer. I don't recall fighting between players.

Hell, I was willing to give him a chance just because we finally had a guy looked and sounded like an actual full grown adult football coach.

For Georgia Tech, a B

We beat UGA and Va Tech. We won a bowl game. We did much much better than last year's 3-9 dumpster fire.

But we still didn't finish in the Top 25. Or even in the top 5 in our division.

B seems about right.

D-

Seriously when you start a Inferior QB while having a Superior QB on the Bench and this costs you at least 2/3 of the games you lose, you cannot have a passing grade.

Fact is there is NO WAY based on Evaluation of Talent, Browne should have ever started one game. How he started 3 games is still a mystery, and does not look very good going forward. If you cannot properly evaluate cfb talent you should not be a Head Coach, especially at the QB position at a school that always has QBs.

Better than average, and the average under Bob is 10 wins per season.

Would be an A- if we had managed to be prepared to play in that first game. Two of our starting D-lineman were whiffing out of the gate, and it was verified when they were showed the door before the season was over. I can't fault Dede for being hurt, but I can fault the OL and other skill positions for not rising to the occasion.

I hope our admins have learned their lesson doing a "neutral" site game in the other team's hometown. Gogdamnit, if Florida can skate through every season without traveling more than 150 miles then by Gog we should be able to as well. We should play Tulsa and Arky every fucking year for our OOC. Throw SMU, Rice and Houston in there alternating too but they can come to Norman.

10 wins, controlled our own destiny in the conference heading into Bedlam and beat a higher ranked team convincingly in our bowl.

We were terrible against the squats though and no NYD bowl (CMU game cost us that as much as the dirt burglars) though

FSU was really the only game where Michigan looked completely overmatched. That being said, we had a chance to win every game if our offense could get a first down or our defense could get a stop. I thought this season would be around 10-3 or 11-2, so I'll call it average.

A. Great Season with one small bump in the road vs USC. Then held our own against a team that some thought was one of the best all time.

The only reason it's not a A- is because FSU had their worst loss ever, getting spanked by Louisville.

I saw it coming, but I thought it'd be a 21-pt loss. Teams hadn't figured out LJ yet, and it was our first game without arguably the best defensive player in the country (Derwin James). I remember his backup effing up a bit and giving up some big plays.

The other two losses were TIGHT. 1) Missing 3 FGs then losing by a 50+ FG as time expired to UNC, and 2) losing a lead with 2 minutes left to Clemson.

Beating Ole Miss, Miami, UF, and Michigan was great. Freshman QB, too.

The bowl win was nice, and the defense looks scary again.
Lots of freshmen and sophomores so this team is loaded going forward.
Solid coaching staff.
That mid season slide with losses to FSU and ND really hurt this grade.

Overall, a 9 win season ain't too bad for first year head coach and a young team. Future is looking good.
