Week 2 Pre-Season vs 49ers

If Lynch comes out, moves the team and shows some flash plays it may be his job.

One thing though its easier to bring Lynch in if Trevor fails vs the other way around.

I'd say if Lynch moves the ball and looks good it is surely his job (at least for the time being).

I think my one big frustration if they follow through with the plan tonight is only giving Lynch and Siemian a quarter and a half to prove themselves. 1 big throw either good or bad completely changes the narrative of the QB and how they played. I mean is 7-10 throws in a single game really enough to evaluate a player one way or the other? Just wish they would not worry about trying to get Sloter in the game and play each QB an entire half. Even there though probably only 15-17 throws. Just so much weight put into every throw these QB's make.

I'd worry about Sloter getting in. If he looks like he did last week, then we'll need to see him play up in stronger competition.

I'm not sold on any of our 4 qb's yet, and I'm not sure VJ or Elway are either.

Sloter should not get an opportunity with the 1's. It would be a waste of valuable snaps at this point in the season. Understand also there have been practices all during the offseason that he looks down right terrible even going against our 3rd string guys on the team. They seriously almost cut him before training camp because they didn't think it was worth it to keep him even on the 90 man roster.

That is again why I don't think it is worth even giving him that 4th quarter. Allow your QB's more opportunities to prove themselves in actual games.

Honestly Paxton is playing about average, sure we want to see him light it up but sure he's missed a couple of throws but if not for a few penalties on Bolles and a defensive holding that cost him a touchdown you have a much better stat line.

Ashton looks exactly like he should as a three-year project, really good with some bad throws at times. Everyone expects him to light it up when the whole time he wasn't ready and everyone said that when we drafted it. Honestly we should be more criticizing Trevor for not running away with this when he's had the extra year the Paxton hasn't. Trevor looked great tonight with the number twos everywhere let's see if he can do that when he's playing with the number ones because last week he certainly didn't .

Few observations...

1) Congrats to Siemian on winning the job. I will be cheering every single snap for him to go have success as his success equals the Broncos' success. He showed poise especially in today's game to stand in the pocket and deliver an accurate throw even with a guy coming at him in the pass rush.

2) What the heck happened Bolles? You went from looking like a big time starter last week to looking very lost this week. I guess just what we will have to expect a bit with the growing pains of a rookie LT.

3) Really hoping the Broncos give Connor McGovern a chance to winning a starting job. He has shown very well in his snaps and I have heard nothing but praise from camp about what he has done.

4) Got to love the depth of this defense. 7 starters out and they still go out and dominate. Yes it was the 49ers but I loved what I saw.

5) The run defense definitely looks improved. The big boys up front even without Crick and Wolfe to help out and our starting 2 ILB's they still destroyed the 49ers in the run game.

6) I think we did see today how much we can miss Von, Ray, and Shaq. Against the Bears where they don't have great Tackles our back ups looked pretty good getting after the QB. Against quality tackles though they reminded us why they are back ups.

7) Love the improvement of Corey Nelson this year. Showed really well as a pass defender and has improved his run defense.

8) It looks like the Broncos might have a future star on their hands in De'Angelo Henderson. That kid just embarrasses people who try to tackle him.

9) Good to see the Broncos finally get the TE's involved. Still not sure we have much of anything at the position.

10) Finally it is time to get McManus paid. Huge game for him as he looks to be in midseason form. Made that 51 yarder just look so easy.
