True, there's almost no drop off in performance, at least Golden has a pick this season...I'd have to look to be honest to know if Mitchell has any....Tomlin reportedly likes Mitchell's vocal leadership/communication whereas Golden is a more quiet performer...would love to see the Bama SS on the board next draft. I think Davis can easily slide to FS.
Davis would be a better FS than Mitchell, but he plays best at SS, so it would be misusing his talents. We just completely lack a true FS on this squad right now. And next years draft doesn't look so hot to find one who can plug and play.

We have Haden (at least when he gets back) as a vocal vet leader. We don't need Mitchell back there doing that job anymore.

The drops are killing this team though. This game shouldn't have been anywhere near as close if people like Eli Rodgers weren't dropping the ball like they had money on the game.

Garbage like this showed why a sure handed WR like JuJu was a great pick.
Can you imagine the day Ben has if half those drops were catches? Ugh. They need to do better. As great as AB is you can't trot him out as your only reliable target in the post season.

When it comes to the Pats, they WILL take our top weapons away, and make us beat them with JuJu and the scrubs. That's how they always do it to everyone.
AB isn't going to run free like he has been. So the production is going to have to come from somewhere. If Rogers and Bryant and James are dropping hundreds of yards....

Mitchell is a quality safety. He isn't an all pro but he's a solid starter. *shrugs*

I think Davis can be an above avg FS, but ideally maybe you're right he's better off at SS, but he's not that beast of a SS either...can lay the wood, but more of a coverage guy imo.

I think it's safe to say that Mitchell is the weakest link in the secondary of the guys that start or play a lot of the snaps.
