Before I even begin this thread, I want it noted that, due to the sensitivity over the name, I will not be referring to the Texans Week 1 opponent as Washington, I will simply call them the Redskins!

Yes, I am that politically incorrect! Deal with it!

What the Texans need to do to win:

1. Protect the football. Thank you, Captain Obvious! But after the turnover machine debacle that was the 2013 Houston Texans offense, protecting the football will go a long way to winning games. Russell Wilson showed last night that you don't need 300 passing yards to win. An efficient 190 errr 191 yards passing that is 2/0 on the TD/INT ratio will be plenty offense to support our defense.

2. Force 2 turnovers. With all the great defensive stats, the Texans were one of the worst teams in the league last year in forcing turnovers with just 11 in 16 games. With the pressure Watt and Clowney should be able to generate, forcing a couple RG3 throws into bad spots could help improve that to begin this season.

3. Cushing vs RG3. This could be trouble. Cushing didn't play much in the preseason after missing over half of last season with injury. If he is slow, rusty or off just a step, RG3 could negate the pressure from Watt and Clowney with his legs. Cushing will need to be able to keep up, hold RG3 in check and force him to throw under duress and not be able to scramble his way out of trouble.

4. Keeping RG3 and Djax in check. Time of possession. The run game for the Texans is vital. Hope Arian Foster brings his heart to the stadium this week. I'd like to see Blue and Grimes gets some touches too. Keep Fosyter fresh plus they showed this preseason they will play with some heart. Also a good way to get Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins open in the passing game.

The Mirror Image Game. Two playoff teams from 2012 who went to being the two teams with the worst records in 2013. Both now under new coaching regimes. Both with fan bases who really have no idea what to expect from their teams. Both teams with strong suits and huge question marks.

Will RG3 recover from 2013 and, with the addition of DeSean Jackson, be able to launch a potent offensive attack against one of the best defenses (on paper) or will the pressure from the nasty front 7 be too much to overcome?

Will the Texans offense gain confidence and move the ball against a suspect defense or will the problems from 2013 rear their ugly head once again?

At the end of the day, the team that wins the turnover battle will win this game.

I'm being optimistic and so am going to take the Texans to win a 23-19 game.
