I'm not predicting a winner here, just that defense seems an after-thought anymore.

That whole "WVU doesn't play defense" stuff is false and it shows how little people who say it actually know about our defense.
And BTW the "well they replace _____ staters this year" stuff ain't nothin new either. Heck we replaced 9 last year:

FTR I am not a fan of our 3-3-5 defense, imo it's the defensive version of Georgia Techs triple option on the other side of the line but the thing is once it's installed and you have your recruits running it yea it may drop off here and there until the players get some PT under their belt but it does t fall off the map like it did in 2012-13 when the entire program was suffering from poor recruiting, lack of depth , and coaches looking elsewhere after the RichRod departure.
WVU might have a bad game here and there like most CFB teams do but 2012-13 were some of the worst years defensively in program history, those won't be happening again.
Now to be fair do I think the 3-3-5 is a great defense that leads teams to consistent championships? No I don't, football is a copy cat sport and if it was imo we would see it all over CFB, but I think it CAN suffice when your offense is superb to put pressure on your opponents.

Most of my VT brethren know my sentiment on this but I will state it anyway - if he got his act together and stayed in school we would have been playing for a championship the next year with all of those weapons that came back in 2006.
