Two absolutely brutal games this week.
2/25 VT vs #4 Duke, at 9pmEST (ESPN2)
2/28 VT @ #2 UVA, at 4pmEST (check local listings)
The good news is we're back home after road stretch where we keep proving we flat out stink on the road. The bad news is that home game is against Duke. There's a chance freshman phenom and likely #1 overall NBA draft pick Jahlil Okafor might not play, but it doesn't matter. He missed the last game and the Dukies smoked Clemson, going up by as much as 30 in the 2nd half. Duke is our worst match up possible. Okafor can absolutely wreck us inside and the team loves shooting 3s and does so pretty darn well. I expect this to get ugly real quick.
I don't expect the UVA game to be that close either despite us playing them close earlier in the season in a game we truthfully should have won. While UVA is dealing with injuries right now and their style of play usually keeps teams hanging around, the road factor is the biggest concern. For whatever reason, we don't play well at all away from the Cassell. I expect the game to be close for awhile but ultimately a comfortable win for UVA.
