The fact that Bruce Arena named him to the 40 man roster for the Gold Cup, is an indication that Gonzalez plans on playing for the US if he gets called up to the 23 man roster. He can't be on that 40 man roster without his approval to Arena. He's Tim Howards replacement and will likely be USMNT goalkeeper for many years to come.

Hasn't "officially" filed yet unless he did it yesterday from what I've read. Hope I'm wrong. I want this kid in the Gold Cup and I'd give him a couple of starts to lock him up for the long run

This is a bit off topic but WC qualifying is extremely close outside of Brazil. They're in 1st place. 11 point lead over 2nd place. But after that we have 4 points separating 2nd place and 7th place with 3 games left. Only the top 4 are a lock to make the WC while the 5th place team go to a playoffs with a team from the Oceania region.

Here is how 2nd through 7th looks with 3 games to play.
