That seems better than getting blown out in most games you should have competed in....Did Pelini ever have a game like Nebraska Ohio State 2016?
First, Mike Riley will coach or not based on his performance, just like Pelini. Last year has nothing to do with Bo Pelini and whether he should have been fired or not.
His firing was justified because he was an embarrassment to the school, the state and college football as a whole.
And yes the blowouts were there, they were known as BoFarts and it was guaranteed every year. 14 double digit losses between 2008 and 2014 and 5 of those by teams outside the top 20.
I like Riley, I know we don't have to worry about the off field antics and he has a passion to win. I hope he does. I hope he gets this program back on the road. If he doesn't? In 3-5 years someone else will be at the wheel.

Just so we're clear, Nebraska fired a coach that was winning them 9/10 games a year

and told the fans to go fuck themselves, called his boss a pussy, hit a ref in the face with his hat and was blown out in games he should have competed.

:wtf:

You don't remember them losing the B1G CG to Wisconsin by like 50 or whatever it was? I'm sure there were plenty others as well.

It's hard to go bowling, when so many teams schedule someone from the FCS. FCS should be -sos and not count towards bowl eligibility.

Arkansas State 7-5 = 1-3 OOC
Oregon 8-4 = 1-2 OOC
Northern Illinois 8-4 = 2-2 OOC
Rutgers 2-10 = 0-9 B1G
Illinois 3-9 = 2-7 B1G
Wisconsin 11-1 = 8-1 B1G
Ohio State 12-0 = 9-0 B1G
Purdue 3-9 = 2-7 B1G
Northwestern 8-4 = 5-4 B1G
Minnesota 4-8 = 2-7 B1G
Penn State 10-2 = 7-2 B1G
Iowa 7-5 = 5-4 B1G

USA Today predicts Nebraska to go 8-4, 2-1 OOC, 6-3 B1G. Predicts nebraska loses to Oregon(I guess), but somehow Oregon loses to Southern Utah and Wyoming. I certainly do not see Nebraska losing to Arkansas State or Northern Illinois, although it is possible.

Six home games will be against teams predicted to go bowling, Ark State, Northern Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Northwestern, and Iowa. two away games against teams going bowling, Penn State and Oregon.

Of course, USA Today might not have applied logic and cross examination to their creation of their predictions.

Wisconsin loses to someone in the B1G, not sure who though. The Nebraska game is in Lincoln, whereas their other tough conference games are in Madison. USA Today must think Nebraska can beat them. I consider that game a loss with Nebraska a 5% chance of a victory. Nebraska has a 0.08% chance against Ohio State and Penn State. (percentages made up on the spur of the moment)

My esteemed colleague, Brasky, believes Nebraska will beat BOTH Wisconsin and Ohio State in back to back weeks. Let's see, Nebraska comes off of a game with Wisconsin, meanwhile, Ohio State will have played Rutgers and Maryland before the Nebraska game.

Ohio State predicted to face 9 bowl teams, Wisconsin predicted to face five bowl teams. Washington predicted to face six bowl teams. Wisconsin and Washington have the easiest schedules and Wisconsin gets the easiest schedule.

it will be 9 if we face meatchicken in the ccg

It's hard to go bowling, when so many teams schedule someone from the FCS. FCS should be -sos and not count towards bowl eligibility.

Then they would just change the eligibility to select 4-8 teams. When 60% of the FBS teams are going bowling how selective can you be.

Getting a bowl now is the equivalent a participation trophy for U8 soccer, the only ones not getting one are the kids that forgot to show up on the day of the last game.

You know damn good an well that the coach would still go to that kids house and give them their well earned trophy.

Not any coach that I ever had, that's for damn sure.

A bowl game buys a team 15 extra practices ... which is a good thing for the freshman. Other than that ...

Iowa - 7-5 (5-4)

Wyoming - 8-4 (MWC - 6-2)
at Iowa State - 4-8 (B12 - 2-7)
North Texas - 6-6 (CUSA - 4-4)
Penn State - 10-2 (B1G - 7-2)
at Michigan State - 6-6 (4-5)
Illinois - 3-9 (2-7)
at Northwestern - 8-4 (5-4)
Minnesota - 4-8 (2-7)
Ohio State - 12-0 (9-0) - B1G Champ
at Wisconsin - 11-1 (8-1) - B1G West Champ
Purdue - 3-9 (2-7)
at Nebraska - 8-4 (6-3)

1. I am confused at the OOC loss they have for Iowa.

They have Wyoming going 2-2 in OOC. at Iowa, vs Oregon, vs Gardner-Webb, and vs Texas State. I am assuming USA Today has Wyoming losing to Iowa and Oregon, beating GW and TS.

They have Iowa State going 2-1 in OOC. vs Northern Iowa, vs Iowa, at Akron. Maybe USA Today have UNI beating ISU and then ISU beating Iowa, but I find it unlikely they would have that.

They have North Texas going 2-2 in OOC. vs Lamar, at SMU, at Iowa, vs Army. USA Today has SMU going 3-1 in OOC (my guess with loss to Baylor) and NT beating Lamar and Army.

2. Another confusion is Iowa has 4 B1G losses. They have 5 opponents that will have better overall records, 4 with better B1G records and Northwestern with same conference. In their standings, they have Northwestern above Iowa, meaning NW won H2H. Other conferences show better or same record above better overall record. That leaves Penn State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Nebraska I wonder who they have Iowa upsetting.

And the players get 500 bucks worth of gifts. That includes your walk-on's that can come with
you. That's a good little reward for kids who get nothing.
