Former Michigan QB Devin Gardner, who's converting to WR, is signing with New England Patriots, per source. Following @Edelman11 QB-WR path

Would anyone be surprised if NE were hoarding QB's for trade bait to teams that start analyzing their QB position, now that the draft has ended?????

Strengths
Outstanding leader and willing to do whatever it takes to make transition to wide receiver. Thickness of frame to potentially out-muscle smaller cornerbacks. Surprising smoothness releasing against press coverage at East-West Shrine Game practices. Showed improvement with his routes as the week of practices progressed. High character in every regard. Ability to play scout team quarterback is a plus.
Weaknesses
Very little experience at wide receiver. Has below-average speed and will need much more time and seasoning to run functional routes. Issues with drops and consistency of hands have been a problem for him throughout the offseason transition from quarterback.

Practice squad QB and tall receiver. It is good to have a very tall receiver on the practice squad. He gets the opportunity to learn the Receiver position. Win - win.
We may also get offers for our 3rd string QB - Garrett Gilbert

Matt Chatham reporting on NESN said something I thought was interesting. He said that Boll Belichick does not draft to replace players lost immediately. He's already got his replacements in place. He game two examples. Revis was not going to be replaced by any college senior. To think he would is foolish. If there is no equal on the Pats roster, Belichick will adjust the defense and use Malcolm Butler or Logan Ryan depending on circumstances. It's possible the safety from Stanford could be converted to CB but it will have to done carefully and he'll have to be able to make plays in the preseason. The second example is Wilfork. Easly is rehabbing from surgery and the surgery went better than expected. He'll be ready by Camp. Chatham thinks the defense will feature an all out edge attack with high speed and power up the middle. Quarterbacks will not have time and run around for 10-12 seconds like last year.

He talked about the offensive line and Connelly not being resigned or signed by another team. His concussions were pretty serious and he may be done. The OLs taken in the draft will push guys like Marcus Cannon and Josh Kline. If they don't take the next step up, they'll be stepping out.

Another reporter said that people are always disappointed in the Patriots' drafts because they never take the big names. But.......they become big names once they get into the Patriot's system. Like one guy named Brady who was taken at the end of the sixth round #199.

I couldn't agree more BigK. That's why BB plays chess while everyone else is playing checkers to include the SeaHawks. The Hawks have found some gems as well. However they continuing paying guys top $ resulting in no depth.
It sure would be great seeing some pressure on the QB for a change. Really haven't seen that since the Seymour amd McGinest days.
Hope Connelly is alright. Man that sucks when O-Linemen are having such severe concussions.
