ESPN's Dianna Marie Russini confirms the Dolphins are "discussing" releasing Ndamukong Suh.

The Miami Herald has been reporting this for weeks. With Jarvis Landry signing his franchise tender, the Dolphins need to clear salary cap space in the worst way. Although he's now 31, cutting Suh would be purely financial. He remains an elite player. Quarterbacks aside, Suh would instantly become the best player on the open market. A return to the Lions would erase the biggest GM fuck up ever when Martin Mayhew let Suh walk years ago, cementing Mayhew as the worst GM in history.

Wait a second... Mayhew wasn't the worst. Millen, now that's a GM that single-handedly ran an organization from mediocrity to atrocity.

As to Suh coming back, if the price is right, great. Of course, that was the problem earlier. Suh valued his services more than management did. Since going to Miami, the Dolphins showed promise but the results ended up being a little short.

The Dolphins really are a horribly run organization. Why... why... why... do we still see talk about guys like OBJ getting 20 mil per? When we know damn well, just about every time you pay a non-QB that 100 million dollar contract. It winds up HORRIBLY.

Even just a decent to solid QB like Alex Smith costs 23-25 mil per nowadays. Then, you're going to tie ANOTHER 20 mil per into a second player? You simply CANNOT have 40-50 mil per season tied up into two players. lol. You just can't. It will be the death of the rest of your roster.

If Suh would have stayed in Detroit. Think about how much cash would be tied between him and Stafford. Yeesh.

Think about how much cash we wasted paying DeAndre Levy to grow a beard and write an angry blog.

Including the dead cap still tied up into him for 2018. A little over 20 mil for 4 years. Shitty... but far from a catastrophe.

Doesn't mean that shelling out a 100 million dollar contract to Suh was a good move.

Stafford: Five years, 135 million (60.5 mil guaranteed)
Suh: Six years, 110 million (60 mil guaranteed)

Would have tied you up into two players from 2015 through 2023 for 245 million and 120 million guaranteed.

Have fun building a roster of 51 more players under the cap limit. Ain't gonna be pretty.

We did so well building one without him that we fired the GM and head coach.

I'm sorry... but I don't really understand how that's a relevant counter.

The fact that your GM and HC were incompetent in the aftermath. That doesn't mean shelling out that giant contract to Suh was good idea. Look at the cap trouble Miami is in from the Suh contract, coupled with paying Tannehill.

If I need a thousand dollars to pay rent, and am considering robbing a liquor store. Then, a buddy talks me down and gets me a job. If I get fired from that job within the first week and evicted. That doesn't mean robbing the liquor store was a good idea. It was still retarded as fuck. lol. It means that I shouldn't have fucked up the opportunity to do it the right way.

I think the Lions biggest fuck up was done with Barry Sanders.

Good clarification. :thumb:

Yes

They should have threatened to kill his kids if he didn't keep playing.
They should have bent over backwards to get him to play. He was all that kept them relevant for 10 years. They would get prime time and Monday night games because of Barry alone. They would have had the all time leading rusher in the NFL.
