OK, things are kinda slow, but thought I'd see if starting a thread on UM's 2014 recruits might get some positive chatter going.

Anyone got their ears in the right places to give some insights as to who the next hot prospect is, and what the are odds are of them committing?

coyote, I don't have anything earth shattering to add but we seem to be in great shape for Hand and Peppers, the top 2 recruits in the country by some accounts. Here are some random thoughts.

One interesting battle to watch is WR Mark Andrews out of Scottsdale. It could come down to Michigan v Arizona. It would be fun to watch Hoke battle RR down the stretch for this kid.

One area of concern for the Wolves is at the LB position in this class. Not a lot of prospects after the Fern commit.

Look for TE Ian Bunting to be the next commit. Michigan will only sign one this class and it appears to be a race to commit between Bunting, Helm and Weishar.

WR Artavis Scott would be a great commit for this class to go with Harris.

Should be a smaller class (20) and a lot of the decisions could come down to February.

I will be captain obvious and say that either Ways or Westphal will commit next... Doles was a likely candidate to commit before, but word is he will end up at Northwestern.

If we are only going to take 3 receivers (not 5?), I doubt there will be any slots available by summer. Not sure I (being a self-claimed WR expert) would prefer Ways over Scott and others.

well J you may not prefer him, but chances are Ways will end up in this class sooner rather than later, and Scott ends up at Florida... Ways is a bit raw but has some potential and size that Borges loves. We'll need some slot receivers after this year, and I will guess that Hayes will switch positions and end up there.

I don't get the size thing. Weren't the two best receivers in our history "little guys"? But, you are right, he will end up in this class because of where he plays.

In a perfect world, I would like Malachi Dupre and Scott to go along with Drake. Keep Ways as a project but don't we have enough of those "high ceiling " type guys?

yeah he is local and he wanted the Michigan offer for a long time... KJ Williams also sounds like a real possibility. For what it's worth, Ways looks closer to Darboh than any 2013 receiver we signed. If we hold on to Harris and land Campbell in 2015, we'll be in good shape.

I'm worried that when Speight takes over from DG, these tall, skinny guys won't be strong enough to handle his arm.

If they come in and work out w/ him, should be no problem, they'll adjust. Back in the day of the "Elway Cross" recievers would come in, complain about too much heat on the ball, and promply tbe old to adjust or sit. The receivers will adjust to the ball, or watch from the sideline.

Agreed Coyote. The comment was more of a jab at all the Shane Morris faithful.

yeah I was gonna say... Speight has a noodle arm compared to Morris, but has a much better touch.

I think Peppers and Malik end up in AA. I don't have as much confidence in Hand.

Hand, Peppers, McDowell ... I would gladly take 2 out of 3 here. Tho the idea of Hand WDE and McD SDE is particularly appealing.

Looking at the size of the Michigan recruits.. 6'3", 2 at 6'4", 6'5", 6'6", and now 6'7". With Harris in the fold, the football team might be able to take down the basketball team on the hardcourt.

Most experts think Hand will end up at ViTech, if we can get him on campus a few more times then maybe Mattison can reel him in, but at the end of the day I think he stays close to home.

Didn't have much to say. Thanks to the 'regulars' who directed me to this site. Glad there is another forum to talk about UM football and share and find info on program. #GO BLUE

Shane Morris will be fine....but if he's not he won't be the only guy on the roster.
