He's been okay but not wow. Fumagalli and Traylor have been nearly as good. Parker has been good as well (blocker)

Justin Simmons
The Denver Broncos 2016 draft pick Justin Simmons burst onto the scene in 2017, showing a tremendous amounts of talent. One play in particular from last season exemplifies Simmons’ traits. Against the Oakland Raiders, Simmons made a game-clinching interception over Amari Cooper.

Cooper is one of the more polished wide receivers that catches everything thrown in his direction. Simmons made a breathtaking play jumping side-by-side with Cooper. The 6’2 or almost 6’3 frame of Simmons equaled Cooper to allow Simmons using his long arms making the interception.

Simmons is in a great situation to make his first Pro Bowl in 2018. Today in Training Camp, Simmons made another spectacular interception. In a 7-on-7 drill, Simmons laid out with full extension intercepting Case Keenum. This again reinforces Simmons’ athletic frame to cover nearly anyone and make it impossible to throw in his general area.

Jake Butt

The head of the 2017 Draft Class is none other than fifth rounder Jake Butt. Butt sustained a year-long ACL injury in the Orange Bowl against the Florida State Seminoles. Before the injury, Butt showed enough burst to be a reliable target on the Denver Broncos. One play from today’s action displays an underrated aspect of Butt’s game.

Butt’s capable to sneak away from defenders with running after the catch ability. Case Keenum threw short to Jake Butt in the red zone and Butt moved rather quickly showing his knee is fully healthy. This type of play makes a Denver Broncos offense scary factoring in the new toys of Courtland Sutton and DaeSean Hamilton.

The chances of Butt to receive throws from Keenum will continue to rise. The defense will plan to stop Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders and Sutton. Butt is capable of spreading out wide as a weapon for Keenum. Yet, one area of improvement is blocking. Due to Butt being a film and gym rat, something I don’t remember a Denver Broncos tight end being, it is not out of the realm of possibility he can become a durable blocker.

All told, Butt is a player ready to make an impact on day one barring a significant injury.

There also there was the Kelley is winning lynch because he is kicking the burger flippers asses.

I am no fan of that mindset, in week 4 of the preseason maybe then I would write that.

Butt is a conjunction! He joins two clauses.

I love hearing news of the kinda rookie TE but, man, this writer is so incredibly awkward.

According to Twitter, Mr. Butt prefers to go by jbooty80. This helps avoid those pesky conjunctions.

Anyway....I digress. Mr. Booty is one of the players I'm most excited to see this year. Keenum loves him some tight end action (no jokes please), so I would expect this to be the year that we finally get some tight end contribution again. Seems like Shannon Sharpe and Julius Thomas were the last ones to have any meaningful impact.

Clark and Chamberlain were not too bad

Clark was pretty good all around as he could block and catch, just wasn't "GREAT" at either, but a class A person with great work ethic and decent enough at both to last awhile in the NFL.

Chamberlain was a former college WR, good receiver at the TE spot, but offered nothing a a blocker. Once he lost a little speed his career was lost, but he lasted quite awhile as a specialist pass catcher from the TE spot. He went on to the Vikings and was ok for a bit then sorta winded down his career.

Remember Billy Miller? He was a WR at USC who we took in rd 7 and made into a TE he never really made it in Denver but he had a moment with the Saints.

So many college WR's we turned into TE's

Shannon Sharpe
Byron Chamberlain
Billy Miller
Nate Jackson (after he played WR in the NFL for a bit, he caught everything but moved like a snail)

Then there is Dwayne Carswell who was a blocking TE for us for nearly a decade then moved to OT late in his career then had the car accident.

What about Mobley? Or Clarence Kay? Those were the first TEs I remember when I started watching the Broncos. Mobley seemed huge as a grade schooler.
