per Bobby Mac - Details to come.

/Chris Stewart is out 6 to 8 weeks with a busted hand, I guess the Avs need to replace his scoring.

Adrian Dater is saying it is indeed Hannan for Tomas Fleischmann...

Why would the Caps want Hannan when they could have received Sarich or Staios?!? Or both?!?

Sweet. Get that skirt wearing jackass out of here. No offense to him but he is as soft as a UVA linebacker and as clutch as Christopher Reeves' grip. I don't know much on Hannan but what I have seen I like. Can someone give me the thumbnail sketch on him.

His game has regressed significantly in the last couple of seasons (especially in his own end), he is a very good skater though. I would be hesitant to partner him with Mike Green on defense, unless you want Washington goalies to see a ton of rubber. Maybe a change of scenery is what he needs to recapture his game.

Green and Schultz are pretty locked at the hip. Erskine is having a career year and the kids are playing like....well kids with a lot of potential. I imagine this is a depth move with Potion and erskine both being somewhat injury prone.

I like it. For 1, Flash is a good offensive tallent and all, but he is a pansy. This also allows for Perreault (or Beagle for that matter) and Johanson both to play. I don't know a ton about Hannan, but like 46 said, it's a depth move for the most part, and when one of the D men is out which has been a common thing early this season, we don't have to place Fahey or Sloan (I hate Sloan) out there on the 3rd pairing.

Good trade for the Caps more so then the Avs.

Hannan is a rock on the backend which is exactly what they need right now.

Stupid Avs handing away a good Dman. They OBVIOUSLY hate the East. Hannan was a big name in the 07 (maybe it was 06?) offseason, that's why he has the high cap hit...he was a hot commodity. I think this was beyond a depth move for the Caps. If there was one thing they needed, it was a more defensive Dman. Of course, apparently Hannan has been on the decline since his contract year, but coming to a place like DC would only help.

I know +/- is more of a team stat than an individual stat, but here's what I pulled for Scott Hannan from Hockey Reference:

Well...maybe he's not as solid as it seems? I dunno...every blogger with a keyboard thinks he's fantastic, but the truth is I forgot about the guy until about an hour ago (of course, that's not necessarily a bad thing for a stay at home DMan). We'll see! Personally I think the Caps got a steal...
